The Wizard of Philadelphia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Candy-O'67:

Hey, marpay!
  9:10pm Gerry from Miami:

Saw the Nazz while in college in Philadelphia back in 67 or 68. I think the club was called the Main Point of the Main Line. Very young Todd Rundgren and his pals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Candy-O'67:

zoe, where are you located?
Avatar 9:11pm marpay:

Hello Fox!
Avatar 9:11pm zoelpw:

Mailman- the wizard of psychedelphia hehe
Avatar 9:11pm zoelpw:

Candy- I'm in Athens, GA!
Avatar 9:12pm zoelpw:

Gerry- That's the coolest!!
Avatar 9:12pm marpay:

Gerry - how is Miami??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Candy-O'67:

Oh, cool! I think I remember that now! I have some friends there ;) Never been there myself, though...yet :)
Avatar 9:13pm marpay:

Candy - there's no place to park in Athens GA
Avatar 9:13pm zoelpw:

Candy- there's some really cool record shops here! Downtown is where it's at!!
  9:14pm Mike Sin:

So nice to listen to your show live after a long work day. Sounds great!
Avatar 9:14pm marpay:

You have to park in Atlanta and take a cab or a bus, LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Candy-O'67:

I bet there are, zoe! Will have to visit when this pandemic is over!
Avatar 9:14pm zoelpw:

Hey Mike! Thanks so much!!
Avatar 9:14pm Jay S.:

Wow - this is very cool
Avatar 9:15pm marpay:

This really IS sounding great, Zoe!!!
Avatar 9:15pm vanhooserd:

I lived in Athens without a car for several years. A 10 minute walk downtown & a grocery practically across the street. (Barber St. at Prince Ave)
  9:15pm Gerry from Miami:

Don't want to get anybody jealous, but it's been lovely here in Miami all winter. Very little rain and temps in the 70s and even 80s some days.
Avatar 9:15pm zoelpw:

Thanks Marpay!!
Avatar 9:16pm marpay:

You know what I'm talking about then, Van!!
  9:16pm Fox:

If your near Vikki V, I think she needs a delivery of NyQuil and some beer to help her get better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Gaylord Fields:

What Brenton Wood does to the Count Five backing track is alchemy! Love this version, and I was privileged to hear him do it at the Ponderosa Stomp!
Avatar 9:16pm marpay:

70s sounds so good
  9:16pm Mike Sin:

Brenton Wood and Count V on the same label — Double Shot doubling down with “Psychotic Reaction”!
Avatar 9:17pm vanhooserd:

Marpay: It was in the late 80s. I'm sure it's much worse now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Gaylord Fields:

Hey hey, marpay!
Avatar 9:17pm zoelpw:

Van- Was it the ol' Daily Co-Op? I still go there sometimes!
Avatar 9:17pm zoelpw:

Gerry- I am jealous!!!
Avatar 9:17pm marpay:

It really is worse - they write a lot of parking tickets!
Avatar 9:17pm Jay S.:

Well, this is an all-time classic
Avatar 9:18pm zoelpw:

Fox- Oh no! I hope she feels better!!
Avatar 9:18pm vanhooserd:

Zoe: It was Bell's. It finally closed & there was a thrift store there. Don't know what it is now.
Avatar 9:18pm zoelpw:

Gaylord- That's the coolest!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Mike: The Double Shot label sure does walks it like it talks it, agreed!
Avatar 9:20pm zoelpw:

Van- maybe Bell's moved, there's one really close to Prince Ave. I think it's on the West side
Avatar 9:21pm zoelpw:

Mike- Yes!! It's the best
  9:21pm Gerry from Miami:

Gaylord, I am.in full agreement with you on the Brenton Wood mash-up. Met the man several times. He was a customer at a record shop I once worked at when he lived in the southern part of LA County, Compton, Carson, Long Beach, San Pedro.Super nice guy.
Avatar 9:22pm marpay:

WHEW great drums!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Gaylord Fields:

Zoe, Brenton’s appearance was one of my all-time favorite Stomp performances, and that’s saying a lot considering all that talent throughout the years! And Alex Chilton was in his band, drawing no attention to himself whatsoever.
Avatar 9:24pm vanhooserd:

Zoe: There was another Bell's out Milledge at Five Points. The one on Prince was across from a Wendy's. There was also an old laundry on that corner with a car wash behind it. I lived a couple of houses beyond that on Barber.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Gaylord Fields:

Gerry, how lucky you are to have met him!
Avatar 9:25pm HyperDose:

  9:25pm Mike Sin:

Hey there Gaylord! Side note — a few weeks back while listening during my COVID haze, you played a track by Birdie that I’ve been listening to over and over since I heard it on your show.
Avatar 9:27pm zoelpw:

Gaylord- no wayyyyy, I didn't know Alex Chilton worked with Brenton Wood!! I bet that was a crazy good concert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Chop Scott:

@Mike Sin: Very glad to hear that you are on the hopefully strong recovery!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Candy-O'67:

Hey, Gerry, I used to live in Long Beach for 7 years, then Costa Mesa. I spent a little bit of time in San Pedro when I was out there, too, and spent a lot of time in LA going to shows and working :)
Avatar 9:29pm zoelpw:

Mike- Hope you're feeling better!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Gaylord Fields:

Mike, so glad you dug the Birdie track — “Silver Line,” I presume! I love their quasi-60s adult pop so much!

Zoe, was it ever good!
Avatar 9:30pm Mailman Tom:

The stuff of legend
  9:30pm Gerry from Miami:

Going back to my earlier reference to the Nazz, the night club was the Main Point just outside of Philly. Not there any more, sadly.
Avatar 9:32pm HyperDose:

So we get hot gossip AND exclusives?! :D
  9:32pm Gerry from Miami:

Candy-O'67. I hope you enjoyed your time in southern California. I miss it a lot.
Avatar 9:32pm marpay:

SO COOL Zoe!!!
Avatar 9:33pm spacecowboy:

has the grovviness begun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Candy-O'67:

I did, Gerry. It's my 2nd home. I am happy to be back in TX, though. I do love living in Austin :)
Avatar 9:33pm marpay:

Cowboy!! definitely!
Avatar 9:34pm zoelpw:

Hey hey spacecowboy!! It sure has!!
Avatar 9:34pm zoelpw:

hahaha Hyperdose!
Avatar 9:34pm HyperDose:

Now I want to watch Pirate Radio. Incredible soundtrack
Avatar 9:34pm Mailman Tom:

Charlie is my darling
Avatar 9:36pm zoelpw:

Hyperdose- one of my favorite movies ever.
Avatar 9:36pm spacecowboy:

@gerry how were the nazz live ? i cant believe they weren't more popular - if I had written open my eyes and it wasn't a smash hit I d be ticked
Avatar 9:36pm Jay S.:

Only reached no. 55 in the U.S. due to censored airplay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Gaylord Fields:

Ha! Just recently saw the Stones doing “Let’s Spend Some Time [sic] Together” on Ed Sullivan!
  9:36pm Gerry from Miami:

Candy, do you have your water and power back on? Texas was slammed by Old Man Winter this time!
Avatar 9:37pm marpay:

LOL they had to change the title to be on Ed!
Avatar 9:37pm zoelpw:

Van- I don't think that one is there anymore, there's a bunch of health-foody shops at Five Points now! And gourmet seafood restaurants
Avatar 9:37pm vanhooserd:

Obscure trivia I just discovered: Charles Underwood, engineer for the Brenton Wood album, was a former Memphis cat who wrote Ubangi Stomp, recorded by Warren Smith for Sun Records in 1956.
Avatar 9:38pm HyperDose:

@Zoe Team Simon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Candy-O'67:

Gerry, I do now. Didn't have power for 48 hours earlier this week and low water pressure the last couple of days. My tub is filled with water to boil. The City said to boil the water for now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Gaylord Fields:

@spacecowboy: At least Todd was eventually vindicated with “Hello It’s Me.”
Avatar 9:39pm zoelpw:

Candy- whoa, I hope you are doing ok and staying warm!!
Avatar 9:39pm Jay S.:

Sounds a lot like We Gotta Get Out of This Place
Avatar 9:39pm spacecowboy:

@gaylord yeah but still open my eyes not a hit and what was their mgmt they couldn't get a band that great to break? i d be extra ticked
Avatar 9:39pm zoelpw:

Jay- I thought the same thing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Gaylord Fields:

marpay, when Ed says, “Jump!” the Stones ask, “How high?”
  9:40pm Gerry from Miami:

Really enjoyed hangin' with you guys and gals this evening. I gotta go, though. Hope to see you all again very soon. Keep on rockin'!
Avatar 9:40pm marpay:

They did the right thing - you remember that story about the Cowsills - their dad thought he was going to tell Ed what was what - That did NOT fly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Candy-O'67:

zoe, I am now! I got my chimney swept today and now I can use it more! So, I'm doing fine :)
Avatar 9:41pm marpay:

Gerry, have good night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Gaylord Fields:

The Nazz’s lack of real success wasn’t because of a dearth of either talent or songs, that’s for darn sure!
Avatar 9:41pm zoelpw:

Thanks for tuning in Gerry!! Enjoy the warm weather!
Avatar 9:41pm Mailman Tom:

I have a 45 picture sleeve of Open My Eyes by the Nazz. A prized possession
Avatar 9:41pm zoelpw:

Candy- Glad to hear it!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Candy-O'67:

Night, Gerry!
Avatar 9:41pm spacecowboy:

Avatar 9:43pm zoelpw:

Candy- that is good news!!
  9:43pm Andres:

Hey Zoe! Hey all! The organ in Baby Please Come Home also had me flashing to Baby Please Don’t Go as some sort of kindred spirit.
Avatar 9:44pm zoelpw:

Hey Andres!! Haha they're sister songs!
Avatar 9:44pm marpay:

Hi Andres!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Candy-O'67:

Yes, Zoe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Gaylord Fields:

marpay, and when Jim Morrison crossed Ed by agreeing to change the words to “Light My Fire” and then reneged on live TV, he was dead within a few years. Do not eff with Ed Sullivan! You know Topo Gigio is mafioso all the way!
  9:44pm Gerry from Miami:

Thanks, Gardeners!
Avatar 9:45pm marpay:

water pipes breaking just ruin everything, ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Candy-O'67:

Avatar 9:45pm spacecowboy:

  9:45pm Andres:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Candy-O'67:

It does, marpay, and I've been hearing of too many breaking here :(
  9:47pm CC:

@zoe sounds like a good sunshine connection
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Candy-O'67:

I don't blame her. I don't know how people did it without any heat source. I had my fireplace for two days and then I ended up having "green" wood I purchased over the weekend from some guy I googled. So, I went to stay with a friend, was able to shovel my driveway, and roads were clear enough to go the 10 blocks Tues. night. My power was back on late in the night on Tues. So, luckily I was able to make it back home on Wed. also.
Avatar 9:59pm spacecowboy:

@ zoe oh don't forget to check out the spanky and our gang - anything you choose record - - pretty good
  10:00pm Fox:

Are you familiar with the Parrish & Gurvitz LP from 72?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Candy-O'67:

I will have to check out the Green Bean when I visit!
Avatar 10:01pm zoelpw:

spacecowboy- I try to send out really strong vibes to the green bean man in hopes that he'll bring plentiful psychedelic bounty on Saturdays hahaha
  10:01pm CC:

Max told me they bought a bunch of candles and had a grill out on the patio and inside of the apartment maintained 55°... just the stress of it lasting so long I guess???...:)
Avatar 10:01pm spacecowboy:

@ zoe - yes the green bean man must be encouraged through strong vibes
Avatar 10:02pm zoelpw:

Fox- No I'm not, is it the same gurvitz from the Baker Gurvitz army?
Avatar 10:02pm zoelpw:

Spacecowboy- I'll play some Spanky for you next week!
Avatar 10:03pm zoelpw:

Candy- It's the greatest shop ever!!!

I’m branching out! Good stuff on the radio Zoelpw! Smells great
Avatar 10:22pm vanhooserd:

It seems there were two Richards, thus the name Richard Twice. I think the guy you're talking about was the one who wrote the songs. I just read this on Discogs...
Avatar 10:23pm zoelpw:

Hey Paul! Welcome! Thank you so much!
Avatar 10:23pm Jay S.:

This is quite the rarity!
Avatar 10:23pm vanhooserd:

Are you coming to use from a dorm room?
  10:24pm Fox:

I believe it was "Richard Twice" because there were two Richards. Richard Atkins and Richard Manning
Avatar 10:24pm zoelpw:

Van- Yes, Richard Atkins wrote everything! I'm not sure what happened to the other Richard...
Avatar 10:25pm zoelpw:

Van- I sure am!

Avatar 10:27pm vanhooserd:

A dorm room with lots of echo. I guess you have a big KEEP OUT sign on the door. Or an ON THE AIR sign.
Avatar 10:27pm zoelpw:

Jay- Justin Hayward even thanked her when the Moodies were inducted into the RRHOF!
Avatar 10:28pm zoelpw:

Hi drowsy!

Moody Blues = Salt of the Earth!
Avatar 10:30pm zoelpw:

Van- I have to record REALLY late at night so it's dead silent... as for the echo... I think it's a Rock N Soul thing! I don't add it in, but I like it a lot!
  10:30pm CC:

Any relation to the real Don Steele???...
Avatar 10:30pm zoelpw:

Hyperdose- that's right! I don't feel like myself without that around me!!
Avatar 10:32pm zoelpw:

Fox- I love them so so much
Avatar 10:32pm zoelpw:

CC- I don't think so!
Avatar 10:33pm vanhooserd:

Zoe: If you like it with lots of echo...but it really blows my mind when you say you're not actually in control of it. But what do I know about radio?
Avatar 10:33pm Jay S.:

The voice of Honeybus
Avatar 10:34pm zoelpw:

Jay- I really like listening to her interviews, that double LP Set has interviews with Neil Sedaka, Brian Auger, & someone else I can't think of haha!

  10:39pm Fox:

This sounds like a cross between the Seeker and Renaissance post Keith Relf mid 70's
Avatar 10:41pm Jay S.:

Anita Kerr - still with us at age 93
  10:41pm Fox:

The Vision of Sunshine tune.
Avatar 10:42pm zoelpw:

Avatar 10:42pm Jay S.:

The variety of styles heard here is just brilliant
Avatar 10:44pm vanhooserd:
