Speaking of live music, I knew this was coming. My favorite local venue, BSP in Kingston NY, is officially closed. Some NYC billionaire, Neil Bender, has been buying up places in the Hudson Valley and this is one of them. I heard he has a habit of charging outrageous rents and letting the buildings sit empty for years. Nude Party, with Black Lips, played there a couple of years ago.

John L, that's sad news man. We've got a similar local scumbag developer here who bought our local long-standing and well-renowned jazz club. It was Grade II listed (meaning absolutely no alterations without local authority permission), but he was so wealthy he just demolished it and paid what they fined him. Which was a pittance.

From what I read Neil Bender did the same thing in Greenwich Village. He was an heir to the William Gottlieb estate. Long time NYC people might be familiar with him as well. So many great BSP shows. The Feelies, Yung Wu, Television, Yo La Tengo, Mighty Fine, Electric Mess, Shannon and The Clams, The Chats, Cate Le Bon, Mdou Moctar, Brother JT...for starters.
