And good morning to radio booth Ruth.
Avatar 6:25am
Ruth Booth:

@Kevin-san
I eat Scones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25am
Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Roadside Picnic! We say 'scown', not 'scunn'. On my only visit to the U.K., I was corrected by the woman behind the counter at a bakery, on my pronunciation. I made my request a couple of times, and I guess she couldn't figure out what I was ordering. Then it came to her..."Oh, a 'scunn'!"
Avatar 6:26am
Jennica:

No scone eating here. Except 2 weeks ago, we ate 12 of them. Cranberry-orange. They taste like a cake donut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28am
Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning TDK60!
@Kevin-san: a lot of scones are eaten here, although their heyday was the 80s or 90s, as I recall, when they seemed to be one of the most popular baked items for breakfast, and they were everywhere. Scone cookbooks...etc.
  6:29am

I told my friend here the album name is "A Passing Thought About Serenity", and he said it's passing like a bowel movement.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33am

Good morning Nulsh!
@HyperDose: the cranberry scone was always one of the most popular. Toasted...yum (but some are kinda crumbly and hard to toast)
@Jennica: I use that tea more for iced tea. Need my caffeine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35am
Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Andy! Maybe I'll head to Scone World at the mall today. One of each, please.
Avatar 6:35am
TDK60:

I recall scones were introduced into my life at the hippy bakery on 9:47 AM, March 5th, 1983. Yeah, that was when.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37am
Jeffrey Davison:

@TDK60: the hippies introduced me to a lot of foods that are mainstream now, including many vegetarian dishes...
Avatar 6:37am
Jennica:

Hibiscus tea lowers blood pressure. No raisins for me, please. I eat scones so rarely, I don’t need anything on them. They are so flavorful as-is. But, yes, best with tea and convo.
Avatar 6:37am
Jennica:

My mom was a hippie.
  6:37am
Listener Robert:

The funny thing is, he never complains about what I'm listening to while it's on -- unlike when I was in the lab in the 1980s and had WFMU on for a while the boss would yell, "Turn that shit off!" Instead Fin wonders out loud about why there's no noise on when I have the radio off.
Avatar 6:38am
Jennica:

Fin. Cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40am
Jeffrey Davison:

My favorite bakery is a place in Greenpoint called Bakeri. Wonderful stuff. They usually make one kind of scone each day, along with their other things. Amazing breads, too. On Freeman St. They have another location in W'burg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am
Kevin-san:

Just reading the word "scone" makes my mouth dry up, and sets my teeth on edge. Blueberry muffins too. I wonder if there's a medical name for that, Gobclogitis or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42am
Stanley:

I make cheese and mustard scones.
  6:43am
Listener Robert:

Fin loves scones. I refer to them as doorstops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43am
Jeffrey Davison:

@Robert: yeah, when I would try to listen to FMU at work, it would often end the same way.
@Kevin-san: once an item becomes so popular, there are always plenty of awful examples among the good ones.

Sem - small cubes of Gruyere in the mix, some grated on the top.
And here's a thing. A couple of years ago, I attended an evening gathering with friends and decided to bring a stash of cheese muffins I'd made.(American style, not English muffins) and, initially, got some suspicious and hesitant response. They disappeared in two minutes! Go savoury, my friends.

Just the weather to hunker down and enjoy a day of rest.
Got much snow by you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am

@HyperDose: my favorite might be the pain au chocolat, but they're usually just so-so. I remember a great little bakery on 13th St in Greenwich Village that made really good stuff, including those...sigh...

@Sylvia: glad to hear!
@Zoot: not too many people make crumpets over here.

Andy - I hear you. It's almost an honour. There are uber hip places in Edinburgh, which are just like that. Trouble is they often have the best beer, food, coffee etc. so it's a price us oldies have to pay. However the judicious use of a ridiculous hat sometimes confuses them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am

Good morning Chris! Browne's songs were recorded by others before his first LP came out. He was a friend of Nico, and was at the Chelsea Girl session. And yeah, I'm overdue for some Jackson Browne.

Muffins - that is what Muirkans eat. Supersized & too full of sugar. Lacks only frosting to be a fairy cake... You got the timing exactly right on scohhns (scones - long O in the US) I think. So simple even I baked a few. Which spoils you for fresh ones.
Well my fave Bob LP is 'Bringing It All Back Home' - or maybe 'Blonde On Blonde' & I'm lying. But yeah - need to remember how high his 2nd major peak in the early 1970s was in fact... Thing is it was Divorce / Watergate / Nam Vets return stuff...

Jeffrey, thanks. I knew Mr Morrison played on the album, but wasn't sure about specific tracks.
Did you ever get a chance to check out the Jozef Van Wissem & Gary Lucas album with their version of These Days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am
Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning SmokinJ, and thanks!
@Nulsh: not yet...
@Rev: yeah, we supersize everything, wtf

Chris:

@Jeffrey - I think so. He was walking around the venue after soundcheck, spotted me on the hill of Pine Knob with my parents, and came over to say hi. Apparently I reminded him of his son Ethan. He played frisbee with me and chatted with my parents and their friends for a few minutes, then went on his way. He signed my t-shirt and program.

Good morning Dennis Diken...didn't see your comment up there. Thanks for the kind words...

Just catching up on Jackson Browne chat..... Before the Deluge and For a Dancer are true gems of the songwriting craft.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18am
Jeffrey Davison:

@Chris: that is a sweet story.
@city 3: agreed!

And David Lindley needs to be mentioned for his work on Browne’s recordings. Ha a master!
  8:19am
city 3:

He’s a master.....

I've been reading a lot about The Weather Station, but she's really great, she actually lives up to the hype. Her previous album was beautiful, too.

Anyone heard Over the Rhine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am
Jeffrey Davison:

@city 3 and Zoot: yeah, David Lindley, but I need to really check out a mot more.
@Mark R: oh, yeah. She's the real thing. To me, the most important female singer songwriter from Canada since Joni.
  8:25am
Mark R:

How have I gone so long without owning "Hejira." There's a great segment in that "Rolling Thunder" movie where she's playing "Coyote" for Dylan and Roger McGuinn--she had just written it. Even on acoustic guitar in a living room, it was already fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am
Stanley:

Nice Joni pick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am
Jeffrey Davison:

@Zoot: I had an early one of theirs, but don't have it any longer, alas. Haven't played them in a long time.
@Mark R: Joni is God.
@Stanley: thanks. I don't go to Hejira nearly enough!

Joni sang on some Herbie Hancock albums.Great jazz singing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am
Jeffrey Davison:

@Zoot: I didn't know that. Yes, she is more a jazz singer than a folk singer, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am

Jeffrey - I find it a bit Jaco Pastorius heavy but nevertheless a really good album

I love Marcel! No other hummus can match theirs. One of my favorite spots. There is also a great Ethiopian place, Mesob. The Corner is always too packed. Never tried Local.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am

...speaking of videos, saw a few with Chick Corea, and some of Milford Graves. They don't come much better than those two greats. RIP.

@Deborah: The staff at Local are super nice, and their baked goods are top notch. Is The Corner going to expand? They need to! They could fill it three times over.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am

Count me in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41am

@Chris: dunno about a set. I try and avoid those, if for no other reason that people jump to the conclusion that the musician has died! But some, for sure!
@Zoot:gotta order some Chick Corea CDs soon!

Jackson Browne is better than the West Coast 1970s YachtRawk sort of Production style he can be classified with ...though he Produced Warren Zevon & it was fine.
