Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Brian in New Orleans:

All killer no Filler
  10:25pm paparay:

Just trying to take it back to the days when NY nightlife was fun. And none of that bottle service crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Brian in New Orleans:

We danced at 'Axis" in Boston on Lansdowne street and used to harass the Red Sox fans as they left the ball park. Axis was right behind the "Green Monstah!"
  10:31pm paparay:

@Brian in New Orleans: I went there in the 90's.
Avatar 10:31pm slugluv1313:

good evening, Ray and Skeletons and Boogie Fiends!
kinda in werk-n-lurk mode but LOVING the vibes!
and hell yeah! fun and *affordable* (dolled-up in fixed-up thrift store finds, hah!) late 70s, early 80s . . . ya know, when clubs stayed open and DJs played for us all, AFTER the final band played :)
  10:31pm paparay:

Brian, a girl named Jenny Beatty took me there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Brian in New Orleans:

Boston was amazing back in the day...wow..

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Brian in New Orleans:

@paparay Great! I was a student at Mass Art on Huntington Ave. I remember when the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was robbed of its masterpieces. I remember the yellow cop tape on the side door facing The Fens
  10:35pm paparay:

@ Brian in New Orleans: WOW! I remember seeing Heaven 17 on American Bandstand expecting them to do this. They did Temptation & We LIve So Fast I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Brian in New Orleans:

@paparay..excellent memory...we loved The Rat and I saw Gang Green at the disco across the street. I worked the door on "Hispanic Night" and was constantly offered "8- balls" in lieu of the cover ...which was ummm way cheaper than an "8 ball" lol
Avatar 10:37pm Johnny Too Bad:

That’s the show that made me run out and ordered the CD Could only get it as an import. Place called Things From England. Used to advertise on WLIR
  10:39pm paparay:

Great memories y'all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Brian in New Orleans:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm loveless:

They were playing good tunes at the grocery store but not as good as these. Will have to catch the archives, to see what I missed. Hello all!
  10:40pm paparay:

It was all about A Flock Of Seagulls for me. Johnny Too Bad can confirm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Brian in New Orleans:

Mardi Gras is sadly cancelled this year so my wife and I and our friends can't go stage dancing at OZ ...Bourbon streets best 24 hour gay bar and club...On Fat Tuesday everyone parades and we are heartbroken this year...
Swag For Life Member 10:41pm ike p:

i wore through a flock of seagulls' on cassette :)
  10:41pm paparay:

@loveless: Welcome. Thanks for plugging in.
Avatar 10:42pm Johnny Too Bad:

You just made me remember coming back from lunch and telling me that you’d bumped into Billy Idol walking around Gramercy Park.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Brian in New Orleans:

We hit Bourbon St ONCE a year and once a year is enough
  10:44pm mal:

nice! i love ministry
  10:44pm phat:

Yes! Revenge!
  10:48pm paparay:

How could I not play this one?
  10:49pm phat:

That Ministry track really was fantastic. I think the turn they took was great. But that first shouldn't be tossed aside.
Avatar 10:49pm Johnny Too Bad:

Brimming with poppy synth, but of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Stevel:

Does Al J do the vocals on Revenge?
  10:52pm paparay:

@Stevel: Yes. He claims to be forced to sing with a fake Brit accent.
  10:55pm phat:

Damn, this Ultravox. Making my night over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Mary Wing's collection of "Warm Leatherette" covers - www.wfmu.org... Grace Jones is in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Stevel:

No one forces Al anymore.

What great sets. I listened to most of what we're hearing tonight. Enjoying this very much!
  10:56pm paparay:

There is a documentary on Wax Trax Records worth checking out. Ai Jourgenson in there and lots more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Aitch:

Much fun to be had with that first Ministry record.
Severe 80's flashbacks occurring here
  11:01pm Andres:

Ah, to grow up in the 80’s with Reagan and Thatcher, to come home from school and watch Ultravox videos about nuclear Armageddon! Great song though!
  11:02pm paparay:

@Andreas:We had it good.
  11:03pm phat:

Holy hell, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Brian in New Orleans:

This show is the new "Best Show on WFMU'...
  11:04pm phat:

@Andres you said it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Stevel:

The cool record store in Denver was Wax Trax, and oddly enough, that became Wax Trax, in 1978, according to the store today. www.waxtraxrecords.com...

What I remember around 1978 was seeing a signed promo photo of Sid and Nancy, signed "Piss off" and "XOXO" as if two different toddlers had used a sharpie for the first time. Seemed legit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Stevel:

Andres: I loved songs about the end of the world. I was a closet goth, of some sort.
  11:05pm phat:

I love the Blancmange song so much.
  11:06pm phat:

This
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Brian in New Orleans:

"Devo wraps" anyone...?
  11:07pm paparay:

Any thoughts on DEVO being nominated for The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm ratso:

this is more fun than many other things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Brian in New Orleans:

@paparay.....Meh...Devo is way too cool for that shit.

images.app.goo.gl...
  11:12pm Andres:

Not a fan of the RnR Hall of Fame. Devo’s ability to influence and inspire is undeniable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Brian in New Orleans:

I love the story that when the RnR hall of fame notified Sid Vicious the Pistols were in he wrote them a note saying "fuck off" and so now that note is on display as a stand in for the Sex Pistols
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Brian in New Orleans:

I'm a clash guy anyway...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm loveless:

@Andres I totally agree.
  11:15pm paparay:

Hall Of Fame wanted induct Sex Pistols and wanted them to pay stupid money for their seats & tables, that didn't go well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm radioronan:

Good evening DJ Ray Boogie. Listening while working. Now it is time for dinner and some electro-goth-wavy dance moves in the kitchen.
Avatar 11:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Rawk is Folk Music of the People - & also Classic(al) by now (it just is) which befits a Museum approach - & simultaneously very much a Commercial concern. It absolutely becomes a question of who isn't in it - rather than any validation from being in it. I mean - what deserving Artist was lifted up by being recognized by it...
  11:17pm paparay:

@radioronan: Thanks for plugging in.
  11:17pm phat:

This is killing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Brian in New Orleans:

@paparay...really??? wow...I love how KISS was voted in against the halls wishes...yeah yeah I know " Kiss sucks"...but there early shit up till Rock and Roll Over holds up well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Brian in New Orleans:

their ...not there...
  11:19pm paparay:

I have my issues with that organization. Amazing how many worthy acts aren't inducted and yet others get in.
