Hi Sem and WR and Arv!
Avatar 1:34pm Sem:

Avatar 1:35pm ironybread:

Hi Arvcuken!
Avatar 1:37pm Arvcuken:

👋
Avatar 1:38pm ironybread:

Chresti - were the ghosts of Martin & Lewis attacking you and did my show scare them away
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm chresti:

Yes ironybread, thank you.
Avatar 1:41pm ironybread:

My pleasure, my show is a public service the strengths of which are unknown even to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Otis Fodder:

101 Strings! You rule!
Avatar 1:42pm ironybread:

Hi Otis! This is also one of the most perfect LP covers of the era
Avatar 1:44pm ironybread:

This is a really beautiful album, I'll blog it soon I hope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm WR:

erk, to my ears the 101 strings piece started with a melody use for tv show theme? any suggestions?
Avatar 1:49pm Arvcuken:

Doodles!!!
Avatar 1:49pm ironybread:

"Blues in the Shadows" is a bit reminiscent of "Walk on the Wild Side", don't know if that's what it's bringing to mind...Mancini's "Walk on the Wild Side" will definitely be featured in an upcoming show

What IS that low wind instrument?!!?
Avatar 1:55pm ironybread:

Dunno, gonna have to do a Google image search!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm chresti:

It looks like he is blowing into a gourd-cup
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Otis Fodder:

My fav Nat Lamp record!
Avatar 1:56pm ironybread:

Never mind the whaling songs, this National Lampoon cut is the real hit track trending this week on WFMU
Avatar 1:59pm ironybread:

"Whale man's creed" = thing haunting us all these days
Avatar 2:00pm Grabthars Screwdriver:

Wow, tight! 🐳
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm WR:

sea shanties are truly trending, whaddya know.
Avatar 2:03pm ironybread:

I want new Meryn Cadell albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm WR:

again i am way behind any trending.
Avatar 2:06pm ironybread:

Vout-speak is the only trend that will never die
Avatar 2:08pm Arvcuken:

As one a them "Youths" I can just guess sea shanties trending is related to the various folksy movements brought forth by artists like Hozier & Orville Peck. In my mind it goes hand-in-hand with a certain manifesty romanticization of homesteading that keeps popping up online...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm WR:

there had to be some time when some fruit or vegetable was thrown at Slim Gaillard when he did that song. had to be.
Avatar 2:12pm Grabthars Screwdriver:

We played España a couple of seasons ago. Not this orchestration. 😁 I like it!
Avatar 2:13pm ironybread:

Grabthars - who's we? Are you in an orkester?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm WR:

have the musicians ever been credited for this Mighty Moog recording? just don't believe that the two record producers credited did the heavy lifting.
Avatar 2:15pm Grabthars Screwdriver:

Check your email. 😉
Avatar 2:24pm ironybread:

Everyone please stare at this cover image for a very long time. Nothing can go wrong
Avatar 2:25pm ironybread:

  2:29pm mmzz:

I liked the transitions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Otis Fodder:

Love that Breuer illustrated cover.
Avatar 2:36pm ironybread:

It's pretty great! There's no artist credit in the booklet but it looks like it's signed "Krazy Katz"
Avatar 2:52pm Buddy Runyan:

Hi ironybread, I’ve been listening from the beginning. Thanks for the Don Baker track earlier!
Avatar 2:52pm ironybread:
