Then they’d do butcher jobs of Heino songs, making fun of him. Heino sued, claiming exclusive rights to the name, the songs, the shades and the look - he cannot be parodied. To prove that he’d didn’t have exclusive rights to the look, Die Totenhosen packed the courtroom with fans all dressed as Heino! This proved somewhat humiliating, and Heino withdrew and refused to talk to the press about this.” - Jello)

Hi Kat! See you soon Notso :)

Rich in Washington:

It's interesting to note that through his long career, Heino never succumbed to the trend of doing covers of contemporaneous pop hits - there's no inevitable Beatles covers, etc.
I guess his target audience wanted more folk inspired music, music from an earlier time, etc.
Only at the end of his run, he covered Kraftwerk.
Avatar 2:20pm
zivilars:

Holy shit ... It's Heino again!
Avatar 2:21pm
BC Sterrett:

I need to hear the Kraftwerk cover!
Avatar 2:21pm
BC Sterrett:

Do you have a link?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. I only have Heino's 60s/60s LPs. I've never heard Disco Heino. I would imagine there's Teutonic Techno Heino as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Want me to PM it to you or do you want me to put a YT link here? I hate doing the latter - it seems rude to do on someone's show, but will if you want me to.
Avatar 2:23pm
BC Sterrett:

I found it! He covers The Model?
Avatar 2:23pm

This is also very funny – from the first Otto movie: www.youtube.com...

He did! There's live footage with Rammstein on youtube.

I played some Heino on my KBOO show last night. I had my Heinos up on my record wall because I found another one in the wild recently but they were creeping my wife out so switched them out but gave a couple of them a spin before reshelving them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Rich in Washington:

The Heino doc is worth checking out. I think I blabbed about it last week.
Sure am digging your deep dives into the Jello portion of the book. I've been listening to lots of older Jello projects lately.

Wow this cover version is great!

I didn't know you were still with KBOO, didn't you quit some shows?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Rich in Washington:

No. Not yet. I am waiting for them to throw me out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Rich in Washington:

JK. My being able to do my show remotely from my home studio has renewed my interest in doing radio there. I was getting tired of schlepping my tired ass to and from the station, driving there in the middle of the night, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Rich in Washington:

Is this live audio from the Oval Office?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
Rich in Washington:

I love that track Mao Tse Tung Said by Alabama 3 that uses lots of this audio.
Avatar 3:00pm
BC Sterrett:

I'm not really a fan of this record but these are the tracks mentioned in the chapter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm

These spoken word segments are from Bubba Free John, aka Da Free John and various other names...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm
Rich in Washington:

I don't remember this part. These shows are making me want to dig my book out and read the Jello section again. It was so good, but really REALLY in depth. I probably didn't even read all of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
Rich in Washington:

That cackling sounds uncannily like that Jim Jones' laughing that was looped by Psychic TV.
Avatar 3:12pm
BC Sterrett:

I love this chapter because Biafra goes above and beyond with his interview, ...so much detail and content.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
StringOFperils:

I've been wondering why no one ever seems to play witch conversations on the radio any more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh weird. I had to refresh the page to make the playlist appear updated. I wonder what's up with my browser.
Avatar 3:20pm

Avatar 3:21pm
BC Sterrett:

There are going to be several spoken word records in the next show or two...
Avatar 3:22pm
BC Sterrett:

What is this sudden background noise? I guess it represents drugs...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
Rich in Washington:

This is fun. It's like the witch equivalent to that 'Groupies' record.
Avatar 3:24pm
BC Sterrett:

There is no track separations on Side A.
Avatar 3:24pm
BC Sterrett:

Ha, this IS like the Groupies record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm

Rich, I had to refresh mine too.
Avatar 3:30pm
BC Sterrett:

Anyone gonna take these witch tests?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Rich in Washington:

I wonder if there's any effects which would pitch 78s up to speed live?
Avatar 3:37pm
BC Sterrett:

I pitched it up as fast as it would go on this player...
Avatar 3:40pm
BC Sterrett:

Have you ever had a dream that, that, um, that you had, uh, that you had to, you could, you do, you wit, you wa, you could do so, you do you could, you want, you wanted him to do you so much you could do anything?

The best thing about playing records at the wrong speed, which is a thing I enjoy, is that there are an infinite number of wrong speeds.
Avatar 3:52pm
Herk Hilligoss:

I had a college friend (fellow radio DJ) tell me that she was becoming a witch, I responded, "Aren't you a Christian?" She answered, "Yeah, that's a problem." According to this record if you're a white witch it's ok..
  3:54pm
Linda Lee:

hey, if you're really becoming a witch, it isn't. ;-)
