hi Chris, hi James! Hi Cha Cha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Handy Haversack:

Ave, Cha Cha!

luka, you'll like it here.

Sylvia, ça va.
Avatar 3:11pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

When I was 15 I dated a guy who was a Smiths fan. I was a Depeche Mode fan. We would argue over it. Relationship didn’t last long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Julie:

I'm a little embarrassed I'm swooning over that little Morrissey growl
Avatar 3:11pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Ave Handy.
It would've been nice to join you all last Sunday morning - I DID tune in though. And very soon I did drop out. All I remember from that show is to be awoken by Kate Bush (something off Never For Ever?)& Peter Gabriel's Here Comes The Flood only to drift off again. Well indeed, you snooze, you lose.
Avatar 3:14pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

I’ve always found Morrissey insufferable, not his singing but the persona
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Handy Haversack:

Yeah, d'accord, Sylvia. Honestly, not a big fan of the singing either. I like the guitar in the Smiths, though.
Avatar 3:15pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@3:14 Sylvia (France-NYC): I once saw some letters his ex-penpal had put out recently, and yes, he seemed rather difficult as a person.
Avatar 3:15pm Scott67:

G'day Julie & Soul mates.
Was nice to wake up to the Smiths. 😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Julie:

Sylvia, agreed, but I do enjoy him with the Smiths in small doses. Hiya Scott!
Avatar 3:17pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

The letters I referred to were, maybe late 70s early 80s or something, before he became THE Morrissey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy! My 24 or so hours without WFMU is over and my hands are no longer shaking!
Avatar 3:17pm HyperDose:

Welcome luka =] (Julie, we got another one!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Stanley:

Wooosh!
Julie, souls of the dark night reconvene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Julie:

hiya Phillippe!! hi Stanley!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm WR:

Hello Julie & all, will be listening to Dark Night while walking around shopping in the bright sunlight. Later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Stanley:

Phillippe - what? Were you arrested?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

...and I thought pirates were heartless...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Julie:

hey there WR!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Julie:

yikes the sun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

@stanley just felt that way. had a big presentation i had to prep for and deliver. Needed silence to concentrate
Avatar 3:21pm Scott67:

Yikes indeed Julie, it's gonna be 38c (100f) here today... again 😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Handy Haversack:

Stanley, Phillippe, Scott, dark greetings!
Avatar 3:22pm Scott67:

Hay Handy 😎
  3:24pm Mr Nobody:

The sun? Oh no! I swear someone just mentioning it get me to burn. lol
  3:25pm Mr Nobody:

I tell people that's why I had lights removed in my office. Surprisingly I get fewer strange looks than if I say because they are just so bright. haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Handy Haversack:

Fingers crossed, but Kate has almost completed making her appt. to get a vaccination shot ...

of course, no appts. seem to be available in January. What a shitshow. Back to square 1.5.
  3:26pm ike p:

hi julie! despite your presence all over time recently this is the first i've caught up with you live in order to thank you for the awesome shows - in particular, the show featuring 1970 which was my birth year, and i was able to enjoy it with both parents (individually of course), a rare feat for us :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Julie:

hey there Ike! Oh that is awesome Ike, glad you enjoyed it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Stanley:

Hi Handy. Julie, so happy you play early Rod Stewart. He (and with The Faces) is one of my all time favourites. Well until he got fat and sweaty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Rick from SC:

This is some good Rod Stewart
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Phillippe Bastille:

It's 43 F here in Annapolis and my neighbor is mowing his lawn (hmmm emoji here)
  3:30pm Mr Nobody:

When you gotta mow you gotta mow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Handy Haversack:

Exactly how I feel about me, Stanley!
  3:33pm ?:

Rod's birthday was two days ago. I was into him before middle school (we called it junior high in my time), the early years. Then I lost interest, and eventually I regained it.
  3:34pm harktheumpire:

I guess still listening to Ariel Pink old stuff is the new still listening to the Smiths?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Phillippe Bastille:

Handy, there have been multiple instances around here of pharmacies having a couple leftover shots at the end of the vaccination scheduled window that they are administering on a first-come-first served basis (meaning you have to be standing around when they open the door and say "we have some leftover shots, who wants one?). Might be worth some strategic loitering if K8 has time.
(sorry for the convoluted sentence -- too tired to clean it up)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Julie:

never really got into ariel pink
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Julie:

not surprisingly the vaccine rollout is a shitshow..but we'll get there I hope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Handy Haversack:

She now qualifies in NYS as a teacher, but there's no central system for getting an appointment. It's a fustercluck of the first water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yeah, here its one site for each location. My mother is almost 91, and I feel bad that she has to hunt around to find a shot. Fortunately she spends about a quarter of her day on her laptop so she's more than capable of doing the heavy lifting. I can't imagine that most of her contemporaries could do it without some outreach on the vaxxers part.
Avatar 3:40pm HyperDose:

BANGER
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Julie:

the singer reminds me a lot of Jenn Vix but it's not her. good stuff

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Julie:

oooh that's a nice thought
Avatar 3:45pm Scott67:

On a brighter note, there are Rainbow Lorikeet feeding in a nearby tree.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Handy Haversack:

Saw a tufted titmouse out back. They have never stuck around like this before. The 20 lbs. of bird seed I'm going through every week must be making some kind of difference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Julie:

oooh lorikeets are so beautiful. but they need a special diet so I've yet to adopt one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Julie:

wow that's a LOT of bird seed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Rick from SC:

I thought I heard the Cocteau Twins somewhere
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Julie:

close enough
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm listener james from westwood:

That White Flowers was great. New for '21 or reissue from some time back?
Avatar 3:51pm Scott67:

And you think your birds are loud. Lorikeet are deafening when they get going. And that is often.
Avatar 3:53pm Scott67:

Handy in think you may be feeding more than birds there. Do you bring it in at night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Rick from SC:

@james I looked up the White Flowers and it is brand new. And excellent as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Julie:

They are a contemporary band James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Julie:

Scott I'll bet!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

That's pretty cool, Handy. We're going through the same amount of seed now as well. We've seen a couple titmouses (titmice?). We have a few chickadees and wrens that seem to have taken permanent residence on one of our suet feeders.
Avatar 3:56pm Scott67:

Enjoy Lukas, and welcome aboard mate.😎

@Julie: Wow, they caught that '80s/'90s sound super-well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Julie:

heya coela! Yes James indeed.
Avatar 3:59pm Scott67:

G'day coel, maybe you can tell Julie what the O with a / through it is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Phillippe Bastille:

Not sure if I mentioned it here or two a neighbor, but there have been multiple sightings of a painted bunting two rivers over. Rare in the summer, unheard of in the winter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Julie:

gosh birds are just the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm coelacanth∅:

hey Scott!
Avatar 4:04pm Scott67:

Julie they are, but the orange stain in Washington has removed the 100 year old protection of song birds from hunting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Handy Haversack:

Scott, the squirrels get at a couple of feeders but not most of it. "Bring it in at night": HA! With the amount of room we have in here, it would make more sense to put me out at night.

There is no more winter, Phillippe. I use a field guide from 1960, and you can shift pretty much every bird's range 100 miles north.

Yo, coela!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Julie:

ugh I know... how "GREAT"

@Phillippe you can't beat that deal. plus, i think they still have Living Single and that show rips.

I rewatch Justified about once a year.

yeah this is crazy..it's like part synthpop part industrial
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm coelacanth∅:

it's the fisher integrated amp my father had throughout my childhood. if i came into money i'd find one again.
low-powered by today's standards but immaculate, beautiful sound. and lots of useful options that i never see on any amplifiers, not even the "high-end" ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Julie:

what is Justified about? I see the ads but I have NO clue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Handy Haversack:

Joe McG did his Single File of all "Electric" bands this week. Class act all the way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Phillippe Bastille:

@luka I'll check that out! I loved Pen15 as well but my fam didn't want to put the work in to get the humor so I was banished to "the other room" to watch it alone.

@Handy Timothy Olyphant kills it in just about everything he does. I thought he was great in Santa Clarita Diet as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Julie:

lot of good bands with that name
Avatar 4:32pm Scott67:

Julie, just looked it up. Your example is a Scandinavian vowel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm luka:

@Phillippe ymmv, but i think it's an overlooked 90s sitcom gem with some great comedic performances.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coel hey, send me a pic and model number for that amp. Most everything I own has come from semi-regular visits to thrift stores and the first place I go to when I get in the store is the electronics. I've seen some fisher stuff once every 3 or 4 visits. Do you still have my email address?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yeah, ya gotta love Ava. Nothing says Kentucky like getting engaged to your brother-in-law. I have to admit, the few Elmore Leonard books I've seen turned into TV shows have been great. Chris O'Dowd's turn as the lead in Get Shorty was awesome. Never appreciated him as a serious actor until then.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Handy Haversack:

Julie, a book we're publishing at work has blurbs (endorsements) from John Cale *and* Peter Gabriel! Of course, the author is frequently-ish played on WFMU: Dave Soldier!

Harold the Barrel? I think they're both singing.

@stanley apparently they had different ideas on the "mind the gap" voiceover: www.dailymotion.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Oh yeah, it is Peter. I guess I was overwhelmed by Phil's harmonies
Avatar 5:35pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Harold the Barrel - the Nursery Cryme studio version that is - is a duet with both Peter and Phil, vocals mixed onto one track, so they can not be separated

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Handy Haversack:

Hey, zivilars.
Avatar 5:42pm zivilars:

Unfortunately not the time to listen to them all, but trying to catch them as much as I can ... Hey Handy! Hope everything is well!

Avatar 5:54pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@5:53 Stanley: same! Georgy's & Julie's shows are my most favorite two of all wfmu programming!
Avatar 5:54pm zivilars:

Funny that I discovered "Dark Night Of The Soul" so late – for some reason I somehow thought for quite a lot time that it's a show mainly for goth music and didn't give it a real listen until a few months ago, lol ... Glad there are the archives.
Avatar 5:55pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I wouldn't mind finding Laura nyro's records for two bucks - but I guess it is true that in the US you can find used records cheaply - but then in Europe....
Avatar 5:55pm C.S.:

Ahh...the old "It's the goth show" thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Julie:

yeah I think a lot of people have that perception, it wasn't my intent
Avatar 5:55pm zivilars:

@Stanley & Photocopy: DJ GG shows are fantastic indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Stanley:

Another good show brought to us by Julie and those fine folks at Give the Drummer Radio/WFMU
Avatar 5:57pm zivilars:

C.S.: Didn't know that it was common misception ... Probably was for me because of the cementary photo combined with the show title :)
Avatar 5:57pm C.S.:

SO are we going to hear Pi by Kate Bush? He does love his numbers, after all.
Avatar 5:57pm Scott67:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Stanley:

P Cha Cha - I'll try catch GeorgyGirl live one of these days and see you there, hopefully.
Avatar 5:58pm C.S.:

@zivilars It didn't help that she was on from 3 AM to 6 AM. And she did play goth at times but it was free form all the way.
Avatar 5:59pm C.S.:

No problem, Julie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

coela - it can be wild at times (or maybe I've one too many by the time it airs)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm coelacanth∅:

i have conversations on bpn but there might be 20-30 posts in-between related comments
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Harkening back a few songs, now, but trying to figure out why that Fatal Microbes song sounded so familiar. Just read a Wiki on it and they mention Peel. Maybe heard it on his show (and one of the dozens of tapes we have from it)...?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Stanley:

But likewise, coela, I've never been on BPN live, it being on at 2am for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Handy Haversack:

Dang it! Got a phone call and missed Linda Perhacs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coel agreed! Even harder when you're on the app. You just kind of give up.
zivilars, Paris definitely was my favorite place to visit, that's for certain. Phillippe originated from a prank I played on some friends decades ago. Turned into my nickname, then when my work contract set up a social media policy, I had to do my chatting and posting anonymously, so Phillippe was the obvious choice. He gets mail now.
Avatar 6:12pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:02 zivilars: well I f**ked up my day rhythm - from already bad to worse - last spring/summer staying up with Big Planet noise. It is a good show, but the airtime is rather challenging for those in Europe. My insomnia certainly does not benefit from it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Handy Haversack:

OK, still listening (I *think* I suggested the theme?), but I gotta prepare the potatoes for baking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

@stanley the first 10 minutes of DWMS feels like someone pulled the cork out of the internet keg and all the comments ran out at once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Julie:

ugh tell me about it..I went to bed at 7am today. I was already really off schedule but the 6am show this weekend didn't help any. also it seems I can't be productive till after midnight (shrug)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Yes, hi, Julie! How rude of us not to greet you first before diving into ephemera!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Stanley:

Phillippe - I love it and stay up late on a Friday to listen/join in.
And of course, I always get a dance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Julie:

so I need a theme for next week. I'd rather do a certain connection between bands/singers than a topic if you can come up with something!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Julie:

Yeah between lockdowns, working at home, world events and stress... I'm wondering who IS sleeping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Phillippe Bastille:

My late father's name was Stanley, and his father was Polish, so he got called Stashu as often as Stanley. My mom (also Polish) was listening with me one day and was kind of perplexed by a woman being named Stashu.

Avatar 6:20pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:13 Julie: I felt rather awkward last Sunday, you and your listeners were up at 6am, meanwhile this one dozed off immediately at 1.01pm and missed most of the show even if the radio was on as it were. Insomnia is a shitty friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

Sounds like insomnia might be a good theme for next week, eh? Or maybe "anticipation" since le grande orange starts collecting unemployment the next day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Ken From Hyde Park:

For a kind of theme/exercise, but possibly done by Gaylord or Uncle Michael already: a song from whatever band, followed by a song from a band that had a member in common with the band before, and so on. Each successive band has a member of the band just played.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Julie:

man I will never forget, two apartments ago I came home from my 3am show, went to bed, and the lady next door had massive construction going all day. what a nightmare.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Julie:

Ken it sounds good but it kinda makes my brain hurt. I'm not real good with who's in what band unless they're real favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Handy Haversack:

Band with members from more than one country/language?

(Also: KRISTEEEEEEENNNN! Sorry. Was prepping taters.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Julie:

what kind of taters?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Handy Haversack:

Idaho spuds, Julie. To be baked and then smothered in Handy's Own Beans 'n' Stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Julie:

someone said something about German bands last week or the week before, Cha Cha maybe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Speaking of ... Gaylord started out his show with a set of songs about rain and said there were a lot of them. Rain or the weather in general could be a theme.
Avatar 6:27pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:25 Julie: maybe? But yes, there is a lot of good stuff, especially from late 60s - to mid70s.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Handy Haversack:

Wish I'd been able to make the Sunday fill-in, but I also regret never making Carol's show in general. Too early on a day where I need to have my wits somewhat about me -- and that follows Saturday's Marty Party! (And formerly staying up for Hits from the Crypt; I stay up for some of Mona, but I don't usually make it all the way through all the time. Hits from the Crypt was *perfect* for getting Sunday's D&D planned on Saturday night.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Handy Haversack:

Avatar 6:35pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:32 Julie: well I believe there's loads of good stuff there too! And around late 60s things were just starting I guess? I guess Amon Düül, Amon Düül II, Can, and who else had an album out then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Handy Haversack:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Handy Haversack:

Just being fruitful. And multiplying.

At least, it's a factor.
Avatar 6:38pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

It is so unfair the German versions (lyrics in German) of Kraftwerk albums arte soooo pricey. I'd love to have Trans Europa Express, komputer Welt and Electric Cafe in German.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

We are just products of our environments
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Julie:

wow even in Europe?
Avatar 6:39pm C.S.:

In Ladytron's "Flicking Your Switch" the singer reads a lot of numbers... but I have never found out what they mean or the reason behind them.
Avatar 6:39pm northguineahills:

@Julie: it's weird, one sister-in-law has the whole house outfitted in Disney paraphernalia, and sometimes dresses like Disney characters. When I visit, half the time they rather go to a Disney park then hang out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Julie:

oh lord
Avatar 6:41pm northguineahills:

@Photocopy Cha Cha: I somehow got my hands on the Japanese version of "Pocket Calculator"

Ladytron!
Avatar 6:41pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:39 Julie: Kraftwerk you mean? Yes, they are not that common I think. The CD's might be, but the original vinyls (and most represses) are so expensive. Or maybe I just can't find the right places to look from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Julie:

japanese lyrics???
Avatar 6:42pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:41 northguineahills: dentaku?
Avatar 6:42pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:41 Julie: yes, there are a few songs in french and at least that one in japanese
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Julie:

oh wow...must find that, at least digitally
Avatar 6:43pm C.S.:

I graduated from high school in 1992 and still haven't found a use for algebra despite what my teachers may have said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Phillippe Bastille:

Oh my goodness, this is LOVELY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Julie:

i was good at math till I took "Business Calculus" at 8am in college. I blame the hour! Only F I ever got.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Julie:

Nina Persson <3
  6:45pm Dean:

You could follow the lead from the Genesis song today: tracks whose vocalists are not the usual (at the time, in Phil's case) vocalists. So, Ringo, for example. I was thinking, too, of Ben Orr of The Cars, but I guess he sang quite a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Phillippe Bastille:

@handy multiplying? do you and k8 have something to share with the world? and I'm not talking about a ti 84
Avatar 6:46pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:43 Julie: I checked, Kraftwerk's Showroom Dummies had a French version called Les Mannequins and Pocket Calculator in Japanese is indeed called Dentaku.
Avatar 6:47pm northguineahills:

@Julie: aye!

@Photocopy: Hai!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Handy Haversack:

Ha, NO, Phillippe. I wasn't stabbed in the scrotum by a very wealthy man -- TWICE -- just to start multiplying now!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

I love the sound of this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

sounds painful, both in terms of the scrotum and wallet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

digging this math set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Julie:

we've all been stabbed in the scrotum the last few years I think
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Julie:

thanks Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Handy Haversack:

Long term, Phillippe, I think I (and the planet) got off easy!
Avatar 6:52pm C.S.:

Great music + four hours = time well spent. Thanks again, Julie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm listener james from westwood:

Many thanks, Julie!
Avatar 6:52pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Why, why, WHY, does this show have to end? SO UNFAIR. The math hour has been so good!
  6:52pm Dean:

Did Bowie ever *not* sing on one of his tracks? Elton? There's Keith's vocals on "Happy."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

thanks, Julie!!!
Avatar 6:53pm northguineahills:

Mika Vaino had a solo project called Ø (null set)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Phillippe Bastille:

@handy nothin' thrills ya, nothin' kills ya like kids. you're never happier than your saddest child.
Avatar 6:55pm HyperDose:

Thanks Julie. Killer show!
Avatar 6:55pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Thanks so much Julie and fellow listeners.
  6:55pm Dean:

Right, but did Ronson ever sing? Mike Garson? Alomar? Of course, Bowie wrote tunes for other singers.
Avatar 6:55pm C.S.:

There was a show on PBS back in the 80s called Square One and this math related skit was so memorable and catchy: Combo Jombo. Never heard the word combinatorics in a song before or since.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Julie! Gotta go Beans and Stuff! Much appreciated, and great to see youse all.

Phillippe, much more to say, obvs., but Bagpipe is cuddly right now, which is pretty cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm WR:

and I must admit it was the Danny Kaye song that made me notice the math theme. Thank-you Julie.

just one show this week? how will you fill your time? rearrange the furniture? Sort the audio archive?

laters all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Jeff Golick:

Classic jam.

Beans don't burn on the grill!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Julie:

@WR for real! my apt is a disaster maybe I can tackle that!
  6:58pm Dean:

There's that recent-ish New Order song with "vocals" (really, a spoken monologue) by Iggy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Julie:

As good as this song is, I don't think almost 6 minutes is warranted, it's not like it "goes" anywhere
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Julie:

I suppose a Phil vocal on a Peter-era song might work?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Jeff Golick:

The LP version is six minutes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Julie:

thanks everyone! see you next week!
Avatar 6:59pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Iggy & New Order? news to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Julie:

yep clocks in at 5:38
  7:00pm Dean:
