A new set begins: Live performance and chat with Speed the Plough
A new set begins: Naming themselves after an old Scottish folk tune, Speed the Plough played their first gig at Maxwell's in Hoboken in the early 1980's. They also played numerous times on WFMU, and once included WFMU host Frank O'Toole as a bandmate. As the club is closing down at the end of July, StP is rising up again with the release of a retrospective CD and a flurry of live performances. Speed the Plough are Toni Baumgartner: vocals, flute, bells, clarinet & sax; John Baumgartner: vocals, keyboards; Michael Baumgartner: lead guitar, backing vocals; Ed Sefer: electric & acoustic guitars, backing vocals; John Demeski: drums; Cindy Merklee: bass, backing vocals. (Guest guitarist on 1st tune: Mark Francia)
