Comment: As I'm listening to this, I'm kind of bumming, thinking about little sounds that I didn't have loud enough in the mix, or that I've inadvertently erased in the shuffle somewhere. Digital mixing is complex. So easy to trash everything with one bad move. I made a few. I get so obsessed. Flaws.

Comment: TDY - According to Wikipedia: 'A temporary duty assignment (TDA), also known as 'temporary additional duty' (TAD), 'temporary duty travel' (TDT) or 'temporary duty' (TDY, sometimes given backronym 'temporary duty yonder'), refers to a United States Government employee travel assignment at a location other than the employee's permanent duty station. They are usually of relatively short duration, typically from two days to two months in length. Not all agencies use this designation. A temporary duty assignment can be to any location, be it 50 or 5,000 miles away, but they are all less than one year in duration.'

Comment: Wow. Many days later, following one botched attempt to air this show (and the one before it), an earthquake and a hurricane ... I am finally finishing this playlist. I am so far behind! Kind of daunting. I guess summer finally caught up with me. Anyway ... I have really enjoyed working in the digital format, despite earlier trepidations. Not to say that I will stay there, though I'm not sure, I'm just playing it week-to-week. It takes so LONG to do a digital show. In reality, the reason I botched both of the last two shows was because they just weren't honestly ready yet. It takes two-weeks to do one properly, at least at my present level of editing ability. It also takes careful review because with all the tracks and edits - literally dozens of tracks and hundreds, maybe thousands of edits, there is much that can go wrong (and it did!!!!) I dig the challenge though, and hope it doesn't sound too antiseptic. I am trying to bring in lots of the familiar Dusty sounds to 'warm things up.' I'll get it right eventually. In the meantime, bear with me. I really appreciate all your support. Just lately I've been getting lots of email and it feels really good to know you're out there and listening. If you'd like to email me, please do: dusty@wfmu.orgI look forward to hearing from you. As I write this, it is 12:45am , September 1st, 2011. Psychological Summer is over. Fall on the way. Time is just going so fast, I really feel it .... the years ... the age ... the realities. I'll keep pumping shows out as long as I can, and as long as you're interested. I do enjoy making you happy, or whatever it is you feel when you listen to The Dusty Show. Fabio and Julie make nice contributions, too, and their friendship is invaluable. I'd love to talk about Hurricane Irene, but I realize people will not read this playlist in a time sequence where bringing up the storm would makes sense. I am so totally reeling from the destruction that went down upstate. My wife and I go there a lot and where we like to go is right in the heart of the area most severely affected by the storm. I can't believe towns I knew are all but gone. It's so sad. Please help if you can. Here's one way - http://www.redcross.org/Until next time Dusty listeners, take care and ...
