A new set begins: The Moederbott - A Story by Clay Pigeon
Comment: I hope you enjoy the Moederbottt piece. There were a couple of problems with it. First of all, a couple of minutes in, a moved the laptop and the connective cable came out, causing a brief silence (13:10) that leaves out some important dialogue. Maybe I will have a chance to correct this in the future. Also, at the end of the story, there is supposed to be an explosion, which somehow did not get included into my final mix-down, so it's rather anti-climactic. Both of these things were very frustrating to me. I have a bad habit of writing and producing things for The Dusty Show the night before the program airs, so mistakes don't get fixed and I am always rushing right up until the last minute. For this story, I made it up as I went, overlapping the dialogue and inventing voices for each character. Commander Prim was definitely inspired by James Mason. Agent L is your basic midwestern guy. The computer is invariably inspired by HAL9000. The Supreme Commander, I don't know, maybe the old voice talent who said, 'Would Drano let you hurt your pipes!' The Moederbott itself was a bit of an afterthought and was possibly inspired by Theodore Chipmunk.I think the movie Zardoz, which my wife and I had just watched, inspired the vibe of the story. Here's a link to that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZardozI tried to create a unique style of dialogue with ways of communication that our different from our own, yet seem very normal to the people in this story. Hard to explain. Anyway ... Hope you like it.PS - Did I mention that I RUSHED this story? I did. I was running out of time and it was time for me to leave for the station to air the show. I had to wrap the story up FAST. I should be more disciplined and flesh these stories out ... make them better, but I am impetuous, and if I don't do things right away, I seem to lose interest. This whole show was supposed to air the week before. It initially included a story I have not aired yet called, Paralysis, but I mothballed that at the last minute for the Moederbott piece. I never got a chance to produce the three interviews, and the records I played at the end, well, it was filler, to be honest,

A new set begins: Embarrassing Song Failure Moment Leaves Me Red-Faced
Comment: Since I had my laptop with me (a rare occurrence) I decided to play a song I wrote called 'Motorcade'. However, my usual ham-fistedness when it comes to technology made for an epic FAIL and I was unable to play the song. Perhaps it's just as well. I don't generally like to play my own songs on the show. Seems like a vanity move. Fate intervened.

A new set begins: Thanks for checking out this episode of The Dusty Show. A mix of many elements. Live, Digital, tape, music. I hope you enjoyed it. I always dream of an error-free show, but alas, it seems unattainable. I'll keep trying. I hope you are enjoying the season and that you're ready for Christmas or whatever you celebrate at this time of year. I'll be heading back to Iowa with my wife, always a wonderful experience. Wish I could go just a bit further out to western Iowa and the old home place. Homesick for it. Feels good, though, in an add way. Emotions are good. Well, my friends, have a good week and hopefully I'll pull together some kind of holiday show. Or, I might just completely crap out. I'd love an email should the mood strike. No one ever says the town they email from. That's my favorite part. The ol' pin-on-the-map thing. Help me out. dusty@wfmu.orgTake care and ... Always Remember.
