A new set begins: Live Performance by Samara Lubelski (vocals, guitar), with Helen Rush (vocal efx), and Pete Nolan (guitar& pedalheaven)
A new set begins: Future Slip, Samara Lubelski's fifth solo effort, takes a more electric path than past folkier creations of hers. Samara's now a part of Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! family of recording artists. Lubelski's collaborators include P.G. Six, Helen Rush and Willie Lane on her traditionally complex avant folk. Samara Lubelski dropped by and recorded a trio set for WFMU just before heading off on tour.

A new set begins: Live performance by Redwing Blackbird
A new set begins: Another ensemble of wandering musicians, Redwing Blackbird, traveled down from their New Hampshire digs to play a few nights in the Northeast and NYC. Based around the core of longtime friends Austin Wright and Eric Gagne, who share the singing and fretwork, the duo is now expanded to a quartet with the addition of Christine Hayward on vocals and bassist Jeff Murphy. Redwing Blackbird has a number of intricate new folk tunes in advance of releasing their next album, slated for December 2009. On their most recent trip to New York, Redwing Blackbird did a fine recording for Irene in the WFMU studio.
