Comment: Michael Jackson and I were the same age. And so, I grew up with him. Watched his TV show, listened to his records, saw him dance, saw him become an international superstar. Then we all watched as everything unraveled. We mocked him now and then, this King of Pop, until he died. Suddenly it forced us to reassess his legacy and what his artistry, his music and his life really meant to us. I was actually on the air when the news came over the wire about his death. It was most awkward and I was truly shocked and a bit speechless. I worried that, a week having past before this show was aired, people might be burned-out on hearing about MJ. Still, out of respect for his remarkable life and career, I felt I owed it to Michael Jackson to do my own tribute to him. I have since received MUCH response and I thank you for your kind words. Now, we see those old film clips and hear the songs in a new way. We marvel at his talent and shake our heads at how it all ended up, another quintessential American tale, rather like another king, Elvis. RIP Michael Jackson. We'll ... always remember.
