Comment: Just noticed a weird glitch in the show somewhere near the 43:10 mark. My error most likely. This happens during last-minute panic editing when one has 20 tracks in Garageband filled with various information. Little pieces don't get erased or things get overlooked in haste. It's maddening for an anal retentive OCD perfectionist. I suffer these errors for days after. As Charlie Brown might have said. 'Arghh.'

Comment: Thank YOU for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. Admittedly, I put a little extra work into this one than I have done with some recent shows. Thank you to Michael Kurtz for clueing me in to this event at Other Music on East 4th Street. It was an interesting event. I arrived soaking wet from a sudden rainstorm and spent the first twenty minutes waiting for Robert Trujillo to arrive. It gave me time to dry off and to acclimate. I actually am a big Jaco Pastorius fan and I have been since back in '76 when I would have been a senior in high school. I was a jazz band kid, steeped in downbeat magazine and Jamey Aebersold improvisation LPS. I even saw Jaco with Weather Report in Omaha, Nebraska circa '77 on the Heavy Weather Tour with my old college buddy, Dan Henscheid. The opportunity to meet and speak with his son was exciting and meaningful to me. Johnny Pastorius was very gracious and likeable. I am a fan of the Metallica movie, Some Kind of Monster, and it's where I became familiar with Robert Trujillo thier 'new' bassist. I am a Metallica fan as well, so it was quite a thrill to interview a member of this world renowned band. He was very nice and down to earth. Really enjoyed the time he gave me quite generously. ------ I do believe Jaco Pastorius was a genius and I don't like to bandy that word around carelessly. He changed the way people thought about the role of the bass guitar, he wrote fascinating compositions, and his life story is truly compelling. I'm glad this new film will help to cement his legend. I know not all of you like that kind of music, but hopefully you related on a human level. Finally this week, I was very saddened to hear about the death of Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver frontman, Scott Weiland. It's always unpleasant to learn of the death of a popular figure. I can't say that I was shocked by the news. He was after all a notorious substance abuser. But, I was surprised just the same that the news affected me as it did. Maybe because I sang at a band at the time Weiland was in his heydey and I always thought he was a talented, interesting, colorful, and above-average talent among his peers. Sad that he couldn't shake the drugs and pull it together and I feel sorry for his kids and his wife. He did, however, do something with his days. He left behind some sturdy music that is emblematic of its age and worthy of its place in the rock pantheon. I will miss you Scott Weiland. May the peace that eluded you on earth be easier to find in the hereafter. Always remember .... CPNYC1251599
