A new set begins: Live performance and chat by Julia Kent
A new set begins: On 'Asperities,' the fourth solo album by acclaimed Canadian cellist Julia Kent, the theme of conflict creeps into her music. The word 'asperity' means a roughness or sharpness of temper/conditions and Kent says, 'As the title suggests, this is a record born of conflict: internal, personal and global.' Julia creates these musical conflicts by looping cello, effects and found sound. Julia Kent performed some of these pieces live for the WFMU listeners.
