A new set begins: Dusty's New Voice
Comment: Dusty's new higher voice is the result of my having to buy a new microcassette recorder. I have used the same model for years, but to my dismay they have suddenly changed it, removing one of the little speed controls on the side. Now I have been forced to come as close as I can to recreating the 'old' Dusty by holding down the fast forward button while the unit is in the 'play' mode. Unfortunately, Dusty is pretty 'revved up' using this new method. I did find though, that as the show went on and my batteries got a little weaker, Dusty's voice seemed to normalize a little. So ... perhaps in the future I will have to have a pair of tired batteries I use when I do Kolonel Karl/Dusty segments.

Comment: I haver taken to using music from The Top Hands from the LP 'Honor Your Partner' (A school excersize album) for Kolonel Karl/Dusty segments with some regularity. It seems to fit well. MAy or may not continue to do so. Who cares anyway!

A new set begins: An Interview With Mick Thomson Of Slipknot
Comment: I was pretty excited to encounter Mick Thomson of Slipknot through a bit of luck. One, because he is a big rock star and I am fundamentally a groupie by nature ... and secondly (perhaps more importantly) because we are both from Iowa. In fact, I believe that was why he let me do the interview. Hawkeyes stick together, Ask WFMU's Bronwyn C.! Anyway ... Mick was generous with his time even though he was on a really tight schedule and, despite his fearsome image, he was very personable to everyone whom I saw him come in contact with. No mask either!
Comment: I thought of about 10,000,000 questions I should have asked after the fact. I forgot the boy scout motto: Be Prepared. And ... I was nervous.

Comment: Wow. That's it. Another Dusty Show comes to a close. Another week bites the proverbial dust(y). And now I have to start another one. The weeks go so fast. It's hard to keep up. I got a lot of e-mail after that music show last week. That was cool. It makes me happy. This week I have to try and quit smoking. Wish me luck. Damned cigarettes. If you smoke, I demand that YOU quit too. I refuse to suffer alone. Thanks for listening and for all your kind words of encouragement. This whole experience has been incredible. Until next week this is The Pidge in America's Dairyland saying take care and .... always remember.
