Live Performance by guitarist Ian Smit

A founding member of New Jersey-based Monkeyworks, (a seven piece instrumental ensemble that has characteristics of Jazz, Rock, African, Cajun, Middle Eastern, and Ambient Music) Ian Smit calls himself the resident "Skronk Meister" of the band. The Monkeyworks website describess Smit as "The guy admittedly can't make up his mind as to what type of music to play. His playing and composing touch on Jazz, Rock, Folk, African, Middle Eastern, Ambient and Trip-Hop, with a smidgen of Industrial." Ian Smit dropped by to celebrate John Coltrane's birthday (and Hendrix's) as well as pay tribute to America.

Currently Ian Smit doesn't have solo album, but you can hear his contributions to Monkeyworks on their debut CD, and with guitarist pal Peter Biedermann in their own group, Ping .
