Mighty Tiny toy record player: Box open

Mighty Tiny toy record player: Box open

This Ohio Arts toy was manufactured with a full line of accessories. With lots of tweaking, I still could not get this thing to run at a uniform speed. Who knows if they ever did? From what I've seen, the claim is true that this is the smallest working phonograph. It runs on the simple process of the needle making contact with the record when the top is closed which also makes the record start to spin. Then a cross bar comes in contact with the top of the needle which makes contact with what can only be described as a small inverted dome which IS the speaker. Its a very crude and unreliable system but hey, what do you want from a toy! What I find most facinating about this player is the wide range of original material that was recorded specifically for this player.
