Digital recording and broadcasting have opened up wonderful new avenues of distortion unimaginable in the analog age. One Sunday evening last fall, Telemundo's satellite reception from our local cable company was stuttering wildly every time I tuned past it. Mesmerized though I was, I finally peeled myself off the sofa and made it to my computer in time to capture the last 87 seconds before the signal went out completely. The MP3 has not been altered or edited in any way.
