101 FAVE MUSIC MAKERS

For whatever it is worth & in no particular order & from ALL "ear-aahhs" that my ears were listening. what i actually Listen(ed) to not just appreciated for who they were or what they did. An example of this is the Minutemen. I appreciated them, listened to them a bit but couldn't really listen to them much after their heyday. The Clash, on the other hand, especially Sandinista, remain very listenable as do the Ramones and Sex Pistols. Why some artists remain fresh, or of any time is a process that remains a mystery and only incidentally has something to do with quality.

This list includes

  1. ancient influences such as the Dave Clark Five and Dylan. Popular does not mean out and i did not try to be obscure to create a rarefied list which is then pushed forward as a sign of one's avant gardeness.
  2. I chose many who earmarked a period of time. Certainly in the case of someone like Dylan i have found it really difficult to like most of his newer stuff but still, he was someone i spent a lot of time with in formative years.
  3. When scanning through old playlists it seems there are certain musicians which thread through all the various styles of the various times. I just kept turning back to for instance, On-U Sound material.
  4. Also included are discs that put you in or took you out of certain moods, trances, funks.
  5. Artists by whom I maybe even only like one song but became stuck or hooked in the aural sector connected to the nostalgia region of the brain.
