Courtney will again be ready to take the mound after six days' rest.

As a "grandfathered" pre-ban spitballer, he's still allowed to serve up doctored sliders.

According to Cliff Edwards (we spoke last week), this coot isn't as old as he claims. What a fraud.

I'm for Ukelele Ike.
Avatar 9:46am
Lolabelle Pancake:

Welcome, skeptics! Are you the same Irwin who used to host a radio show on WFMU during the 1990s?
  3:06pm
Listener Robert:

I think he's one of the Irwins who hosted two WFMU shows on different nights in the 1980s. I don't know if I could recognize which one.
  3:12pm
Listener Robert:

I used to get my chloroform from Daddy in the "form" of Benylin antihistaminic syrup. I'm pretty sure it's in the goblet on the right. HIS right, I mean.

Flabbio is clearly (heh) taking draughts from the questionable one on his left. The blindfold and clothespin are to keep him from seeing or smelling the mess he's leaving in the studio of origination.
  3:14pm
Listener Robert:

Wait a minute, now I can tell from his picture that's the Tuesday night Irwin.
Avatar 4:41pm
Pierre Delecto:

I don't think we should be so quick to mock mockeries.
Avatar 5:07pm
Lolabelle Pancake:

Speaking of mockeries, we heard a rumor yesterday that Fablio's attorney has dropped him as a client for non-payment of legal bills!
  5:31pm
Listener Robert:

Can't he embezzle enough?
  5:45pm
Listener Robert:

[Pssst...I think I'm going to have to earmark my fall pledge to Fabio, considering all that his namesakes Fablo, Fabilo, Fabilio, and Flabbio have come in for here.]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
rrg:

Robert, no! That will just encourage him.
Avatar 5:53pm
Lolabelle Pancake:

We discovered the true identity of Fablio's attorney. It's none other than BARNEY DUNN! youtu.be...

Will Courtney stoop to 45rpms for the station's 'singles going steady' week? I thought not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm
dale:

i thought pine tar was for refreshing a ladies nethers. is there NOTHING pine tar can't do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
G:

78s don't sound great played at 45.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
ultradamno:

...and takes longer.
Avatar 6:04pm
Lolabelle Pancake:

45rpm is not Courtney's speed, until you add 33.
Avatar 6:06pm
Lolabelle Pancake:

They tested 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm discs on rodents. They reacted most favorably to 78. The science is settled!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm

How? How did I never notice that 45+33=78?

What about "Injun." Is that permissible? On the radio it sounds like "engine."

Native American is *not* a *preference* :-)
Avatar 6:15pm
Lolabelle Pancake:

Ken just called and said we will have to excise every utterance of the word "Ind*an" from Courtney's monolog before this program is archived.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
ultradamno:

And our nickname here, "hoosier" is deemed offense to the earless, as legend has it, after a massacre during the founding of the state, one wag held up a severed ear and asked to whom it belonged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

78 ... 7 + 8 = 15 ... 1 + 5 = 6 ... 6 being the Old Codger's phone number

Honeybear:

Put this by the Staff Committee: „Since the late 20th century, there has been a debate in the United States over the appropriate term for the indigenous peoples of North America. Some want to be called Native American; others prefer American Indian. Means said that he preferred "American Indian", arguing that it derives not from explorers' confusion of the people with those of India, but from the Italian expression in Dio, meaning "in God".[17][18] In addition, Means noted that since treaties and other legal documents in relation to the United States government use "Indian", continuing use of the term could help today's American Indian people forestall any attempts by others to use legal loopholes in the struggle over land and treaty rights.“ -- en.wikipedia.org...

Someone once said that Ken is Hootie and the rest of the WFMU staff are blowfish. I don't understand the reference, though.

  6:20pm
Martinibomb:

Heyyy Lolabelle, Irwin, Courtney!
Avatar 6:20pm

last i checked in on "Indian" the preferred way to deal was to talk about which nation one was from. ie Cherokee nation, etc. to lump all nations together = offensive
Avatar 6:20pm

I don't think Irwin is around. He left the station in the 1990s and has been unsupportive since then. He occasionally posts peevish comments, then goes away.

Another inconvenient factoid: "As of 1995, according to the US Census Bureau, 50% of people who identified as Indigenous preferred the term American Indian, 37% preferred Native American, and the remainder preferred other terms or had no preference.[15]" -- en.wikipedia.org...
