The Electric Underground  The Ultimate Trip   Favoriting Guitar Explosion    LP  Another budget psyche ripoff. There’s nothing psychedelic about this record except the title and cover art. It’s just a re-packaging of Billy Boyd’s Twangy Guitars with two less songs. Billy Boyd was a fake name for Jerry Cole, the man partially responsible for the recycling and repackaging Animated Egg tracks. This song was originally called “Mambo Boogie.”

Another question. Does anyone have mp3s of the Hi Hopes - Ability album they could send me for an upcoming show? The only time I came across that record, it was way too expensive.
Avatar 2:46pm
Mr Fab:

Ira of Trouser Press has written down every show he's been to. That would never occur to me. That's like writing down every time I go to a restaurant or sumthin. Way too anal. Tho, of course, now i rack my brains and wish I HAD written it all down. And saved my flyers. And ticket stubs..

Avatar 2:49pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, at a Ramones exhibit at the Grammy Museum, Johnny Ramone's date book was on display. He kept meticulous notes. The book was open to a page that said simply for one day, "Met Phil Specter."
Avatar 2:51pm
Mr Fab:

"Bolero Boogie"?! I have this on an album by "Eddie Wayne" song entitled "Dig Ye Deep." Also a Jerry Cole pseudonym, I believe. Great version of "rumble," basically.
Avatar 2:54pm
Mr Fab:

Just looked up the album: "The Ping Pong Sound Of Guitars In Percussion" from 1961. So probably the first use of those tracks.
Avatar 2:54pm
BC Sterrett:

That's what I was thinking, just another version of rumble

@BC you ever play much pinball?
Avatar 3:08pm

2007 or so they did a reunion and Bemidji was the only US show. I happened to be harvesting sugar beets in nearby Wahpeton, North Dakota and had the day off. It was one of my top shows
Avatar 3:08pm

ARB this sounds like a premise of a Polish movie from the 1970s - invite youth sugar beet workers at a rock concert - then they have some discussions about the government and maybe there is some kind of love story between two sugar beet workers.

R.I.P. Simeon... o! how I love The Silver Apples. They (and the Velvet Underground) were in New York, as The Monks were in Germany, Syd Barret & Co were in London, and Beefheart in LA, all in their own lonely bizarro worlds, seemingly unconnected to the scenes around them.
