	♥ 3:55pm coelacanth∅: Danny, some of those "carnival of lights" are very well-researched, and some effort made creating them. over the years, apparently (Gaylord probably knows about how) a few details of the original's contents leaked out and some folks took voice samples of Paul and John to stick in there -or did a fairly good job simulating their voices speaking certain phrases.
	♥ 3:55pm Gaylord Fields: @coelacanth∅: Paul is heavily invested in people knowing precisely that he was the tape-loop-making, Stockhausen-enjoying, Berio-palling-around-with, sonically adventurous Beatle. And yes, Paul, Ringo, Yoko all OK'd "Carnival" for Anthology, but George put the kibosh on it.

Therefore while they had to put out some digital copyright extension releases consisting of Beatles outtakes from 1963, to my knowledge not much has emerged later on. Had the law not changed, we might have been treated to some of that formless mess already. On the other hand, it could be argued that the piece was in fact released back then as it was used as background music at that Roundhouse event the name of which escapes me right now. Using this argument, there would be no legal obligation to re-release the music. A UK-based solicitor specializing in legal matters & music/media "might" know loads more than poor speculating me.

Therefore while they had to put out some digital copyright extension releases consisting of Beatles outtakes from 1963, to my knowledge not much has emerged later on. Had the law not changed, we might have been treated to some of that formless mess already. On the other hand, it could be argued that the piece was in fact released back then as it was used as background music at that Roundhouse event the name of which escapes me right now. Using this argument, there would be no legal obligation to re-release the music. A UK-based solicitor specializing in legal matters & music/media "might" know loads more than poor speculating me.
