Hi Sam and good horses!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
WR:

Listening. I never got along with horses. One of the reasons I left Texas.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:14pm
chresti:

I stay away from horses since I got bit by one, when I was 11.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
Sam Segal:

I've barely come into contact with any horses. Went horse back riding only once. Welcome, WR and Chresti!

My relationship with political conventions is no better.

coelacanth∅:

i had a good relationship with horses my whole life
then one day i guess i was getting bigger and my toe got under one of the runners and of course i rolled over it
nothing broken but ouch that smarted
never trusted the horse again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
Sam Segal:

I'll tell you what, WR, I'd take a Star Trek Convention over a political convention every time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Sam Segal:

It is hard to trust horses in this modern era, Coel, I agree. Perhaps they feel we betrayed them when we switched to the automobile.
Avatar 10:31pm
Hams:

horse convention?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Sam Segal:

Not a bad idea, Hams. Might be a nice place to find our missing horses.

Minx might show up to a horse convention. she was pretty sociable.
but her being dead and all i'm not sure i'd recognise her.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
chresti:

She might show up at a ghost horse convention, coel?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
coelacanth∅:

she might, chresti. either way- knowing her she'd come up behind me and nibble on my hair and then run away.
little imp.

Ives. Great choice. Hope his music brings some optimism.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:32pm

Hi. Just here from the Dem Convention. Catch the last set. (The Dead, Allman Brothers used 2 drummers, Henry Threadgill, and many others. Though now, you don't hear any 2 musicians playing together any more.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
WR:

Do it. Do it.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
coelacanth∅:

this an unprecedented challenge in these uncertain times
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
doctorjazz:

Now. Riding 2 horses, that would be quite a feat!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
WR:

Seen ladies at the rodeo and the circus riding two horses. Standing, one foot on each one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
Sam Segal:

Nice to have you along for the trot, Doc and Chris!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
doctorjazz:

Seem it on TV, very cool sight, @WR!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
coelacanth∅:

all those bands that have 6-7 drummers are old hat; but 2? unprecedented!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm
Sam Segal:

"Now more than ever," Coel!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:37pm

"everyone's coming home"
(that one was after "9-11")
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
WR:

PS: Sam, the Machida / Lyall song is Yukon's Progress.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Sam Segal:

Ah see that's what I thought, and then I believed my own typo. Thanks, WR!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
coelacanth∅:

Somei Satoh has composed several pieces for 2 pianos. and of course there's Glenn Branca, and boredoms -with 100 drummers
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
coelacanth∅:

(and John Lennon on "just because" on the "rock & roll" album - 2 basses...but i don't think it benefited from it)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
WR:

Yes, LOL, Branca has this thing about 100 guitarists as well. Maybe he was inspired by 101 Strings. (not)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
doctorjazz:

I saw Bill McHenry many years back with trumpeter John McNeil; they had a regular gig in a restaurant on 5th Avenue (before Brooklyn was BROOKLYN). it was a cool band.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
coelacanth∅:

yeah after i don't know 12 guitars he's just thickening the mud
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
doctorjazz:

Saw the Branca band (also years ago, the old's Mudd Club. Not sure how many guitars bye had (more than 10, less than 100). The sound of those floating overtones they generatedwere amazing; this peaceful zone layered over the pounding cacophony.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
doctorjazz:

Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side is the best use of 2 basses I can think of off hand.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
coelacanth∅:

doc i get that. i wonder how many it would really take for that effect. probably less than 100 but surely more than 12.
. . . the 100 drummers thing was just an event. as far as sound is concerned it may as well have been 5-10 drummers in a slightly echoey environment. it wasn't about that
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
coelacanth∅:

which punk band was it had 2 basses - one holding it down and one playing lead?

why do i forget this!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
doctorjazz:

Anthony Braxton has a composition for 100 tubas, (haven't heard it, think it was performed once)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
coelacanth∅:

haha! i can't even imagine that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
Sam Segal:

Man, I'd love to hear Braxton's 100 tubas.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:56pm

@dr. jazz: yep, it's been performed once. I actually was taking notes of all the tuba players I knew in order to do a realization but only got to 14 when I heard someone else beat me to it....

I was at the laptop happily looking at the screen when I finally noticed Franco switched the audio source in the other room to a commercial about a personal evaporative cooler, luckily I have a blutooth speaker in the kitchen to turn on and hear what you're playing!
