As far as "Secaucus 7" I think it was certainly "inspiration" for "The Big Chill" (which I didn't like much, but haven't seen since it came out). Sayles is a varied, gifted filmmaker but haven't seen anything of his in about 20 years (his films don't seem to play long, even here in the NYC area). Any of his films until the mid-90s or so is worth checking out, there's fantasy, union/labor-related dramas, teen-romance, etc.

While SNL is hardly what it was, it's had occasional funny moments over the last few seasons (& yes, it has TOO MANY unfunny white boys doing self-indulgent "movies" which make me miss Albert Brooks & Tom Schiller even more). Every so often we'll tune in & be amazed at the quality, while other nights it's just a disaster (esp. the first show of the year).
