	10:28am Dean: I'm not finding any of the Bob Florence records I have on Discogs, nor do I find an obit in LAT. But I do find a story from Oct. 3, 1996, that opens: About 35 years ago, Bob Florence wrote an arrangement of Thelonius Monk's classic blues tune "Straight, No Chaser." The late critic Leonard Feather played a recording of the work for Monk in the course of doing a piece for Down Beat magazine titled "The Blindfold Test," and the revered composer-pianist was quite pleased. "It was crazy. It sounded so good, it made me like the song better," Monk said in the magazine article. "I'd say it was top-notch."

	🦀 ♥ 11:16am Listener Gregory: @ coelacanth∅, I grew up in the old days when your hard drive was always filling up, your memory ran out when you had more than two applications open, and you had to worry about whether your document would fit on the floppy disk. This has made me much more conservative about these things, even when there is no need.

But I do find a story from Oct. 3, 1996, that opens: About 35 years ago, Bob Florence wrote an arrangement of Thelonius Monk's classic blues tune "Straight, No Chaser." The late critic Leonard Feather played a recording of the work for Monk in the course of doing a piece for Down Beat magazine titled "The Blindfold Test," and the revered composer-pianist was quite pleased. "It was crazy. It sounded so good, it made me like the song better," Monk said in the magazine article. "I'd say it was top-notch."
