Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from June 12, 2020 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I started a Hawaiian Shirt Day thing at work once. I'd play the clip from Office Space were the boss announces a Friday Hawaiian shirt day over the intercom and some of us would show up so be-shirted, confusing and annoying the older coworkers.
I'd actually thought about reviving it but now I'm glad I didn't.

@chresti been good. Had to chill my FMU habit for a little bit, unfortunately. I had started a new project with content I knew nothing about, so my brain would get a little overtaxed with music on. Can't compartmentalize like I used to.

“Boogaloo originated in New York City mainly among teenage Hispanic and Latino Americans. The style was a fusion of popular African American rhythm and blues (R&B) and soul music with mambo and son montuno, with songs in both English and Spanish.”

@drjazz I scored a pretty decent smoker last fall from Walmart, of all places. They clear their garden center out for all their Christmas stuff fairly early so all the summer stuff goes on clearance (got my mower that way as well). They're pretty idiot-proof. Fill the hopper with wood pellets, plug it in, set the temp, then all you have to do is keep coming back to baste it. They have general guidelines about how long things cook and the internal temps that indicate when the fats and connective stuff breaks down, so when you get to about an hour before the guidelines say your meat should be done, you start checking the internal temp.
