Listening in the background and then archiving - must make some dinner! :-) Have a fantastic show everyone <3

There's that refresh blip again? What the heck? I assume everyone else had it too.

Hi Martinibomb

Domenic:

Bit of a blip. If your at home you don't need pants. Nothing wrong with improvising a show on the fly. Lets see where you go..
  4:06pm
Martinibomb:

There's a light in the darkness, of everybody's life. Good to see you @Rocky Horror
Avatar 4:07pm
Rocky Horror:

Dam it Janet!!
  4:07pm
Martinibomb:

@Dom I had that same blip last week too - trying to figure out what is causing it. Thought it might be some encoding difference between GG's stream and mine or the auto stream.. but that doesn't seem to be it either.
  4:08pm
Martinibomb:

we used to get that drop thing all the time and it seemed like it went away but now.. it's back just for me??
  4:09pm
Martinibomb:

I need to see Rocky Horror again in a theatre or maybe a Drive In would be better for social distancing.. cravin some rocky horror right now
Avatar 4:11pm
Rocky Horror:

I was getting bliped all though GG's show. just like 2 times on this show so far
Avatar 4:11pm
Domenic:

A blip in between programs is no big woop IMO, Sheena's transitioning between live DJ's countries or continents away. Works great!
  4:13pm
Martinibomb:

Hmm.. well I wish I could figure it out. My show is usually pretty solid and I haven't changed anything.
Avatar 4:15pm

@MB: I have RHPS on VHS recorded from VH1 with the Meatloaf preshow special, the 20th Centry Fox VHS, and the 20th Centry Fox 25th annaversery DVD

I've got the icelandic cast of Rocky Horror on vinyl here been waiting to play it.. lemme go grab it
Avatar 4:18pm

When the pandemic thing started and everyone was at home...noticed a lot of Verizon and Comcast trucks driving around. No problem ever with the Fiber network I'm on. seems they kept people in the field and fixed anything right away...
  4:31pm
Martinibomb:

For whatever reason, Fiber has just not been available where I am. I even live in the middle of a city - it's crazy to me that I can't get a fiber line
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

chat update is even sluggish for me - is it that way for you?
Avatar 4:35pm

My condo complex is wired for Comcast and even before the pandemic i had to reset my cable modem once a week to keep it from loosing conection to the ISP

Hi Otis Fodder!!

@MB: Chat is running fine for me
Avatar 4:38pm
Otis Fodder:

Hi Rocky! Chat is flowing great here too. Have both Irwin + MB up in 2 windows and flipping back/forth between shows alongside work today and have noticed no chat issues.
  4:39pm
Martinibomb:

I figured if I put some Delia Derbyshire on the wild Otis would show himself in the forest. It's a sound they can't resist.
Avatar 4:40pm
Otis Fodder:

I escaped Radiohead on Irwin's show. I am one of the very few who run from the head of radios.
  4:41pm
Martinibomb:

I am not a radio head person either? It's like people who don't like cilantro. I've certainly tried to like them/get into it but yeh I dunno not my thing. Hah
Avatar 4:41pm
Otis Fodder:

Too many good shows on at the same time. It's like with my show on Tuesday, I occupy the same slot as Tony on Drummer and Tape Hiss. We are some lucky listeners I tell ya.
  4:42pm
Martinibomb:

yeh I know! Kenzo and Irwin plus all the other great shows on - wednesday is jam packed here
Avatar 4:42pm
Otis Fodder:

I have tried a good dozen times to get into Radiohead. When creep came out I did think the song was good, nothing that hit me hard but come 2000 and on, it's like listening to 70s Pink Floyd, just not my bag (or wall) and I have to make the final cut.
Avatar 4:43pm
Otis Fodder:

Yes and soon Kenzo's show. Often I go from 2 browser tabs to 3 and separate them across 2 monitors here. I run 3 monitors with a 4th laptop so pretty easy to move windows about and have players up to click play/pause. ;)
Avatar 4:45pm
Otis Fodder:

Now I can play you and Irwin at the same time as he playes Armando Trovajoi and you play Delia. Blending Streams.... blending... soon Kenzo can make threeeeee for meeeeee.
  4:46pm
Martinibomb:

I like blending streams too! I like listening to more than one thing at a time tho.. so there must be something wrong in my head wiring
Avatar 4:47pm
Otis Fodder:

No, just adventurous.
Avatar 4:48pm
Otis Fodder:

Ha, now it's just perfect. I should be recording this and playing it on my show. Vivian talking over Travajoli.
Avatar 4:49pm
Otis Fodder:

Now that would be a wonderful day, wonder if it has been done... where a full day blocked out where one stream plays instrumental, another solo vox, another sfx. Everyone, bring up 3 players! Haaa.
  4:52pm
Martinibomb:

I love that little AI bot DA the DJ over on the ICHIban. I'm kinda into stuff like that and wouldn't mind making something for Sheena like that programmed with Mr Fab jokes and also have it mix the other streams everyonce in awhile and do wild stuff hah
Avatar 4:54pm
Domenic:

But it all together! That's funny. and interesting,
Avatar 4:56pm
Domenic:

Charles Ives father once had a few marching bands chris-cross the streets where they lived in Connecticut. He liked hoiw they sounds going in and out of each other, Now that's REAL mixing! LOL

there's a Jazzman repro of Nina's Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter backed w/ Save Me that never leaves my 45 box!

From Nina Simone's Remixed and Re-imagined. Just pulled it out.

She's rappin on it too seems like people would make more edits with it..
Avatar 5:17pm
Otis Fodder:

Live is totally fun MB, love it too, I don't miss doing the pre-record the first 8 or so months.
  5:18pm
Martinibomb:

pre-recording is actually harder and more work anyway so... there's that
Avatar 5:18pm
Otis Fodder:

Big fan of the Jazzman 7" series as well, have a good dozen here. The Zozoi Gall they put out 10+ years ago saved me from blowing a chunk of change on an OG copy.

My cat knocked the needle on Vanity 6 yesterday. I pet the cat and put the needle back to the start of the record. Live = Fun and loads of goofs. Ha.

Thanks for reading those station announcements, Martinibomb. E.g. Ken and Andy's car parade. Anyone in the area want to represent sheena's Jungle Room? Wave a sign from your car, from all of us!

ARB:

Hi, I'm here to replace Otis and Ursula
  6:20pm
Martinibomb:

Hey ARB you're just in time for the "long play" portion of my show - a 40min piece today. I think the longest thing I've played? U know how we always play so many short songs - I try to give the long ones some love too.
  6:21pm
Mark R:

Is "changement" even a word?
  6:22pm
Martinibomb:

I just looked it up and it seems to be indeed a word. But yeh it doesn't sound right does it? hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
Aitch:

It's French
  6:25pm
Martinibomb:

it's french for change yup
  6:26pm
Mark R:

Oh, those fancy pants Frenchies! Change is just as useful a word. I'm digging the long play, I just tuned in starting with Funky Porcini and you had me right away (although I see I missed some good stuff earlier!)
  6:27pm
Mark R:

Well, since part of the objective is to make everyone hungry, I'm fixing a soup with a bunch of turkey sausage and every vegetable in the house thrown in (Haven't started it yet, though, so there's no pleasant aroma filling the house yet).
  6:27pm
Martinibomb:

cool! Glad you're digging the long play. I had it sitting here and wasn't sure it would be the right time to play it. But I am digging the vibe
  6:28pm
Mark R:

Ah I just got the word from my daughter to start the soup NOW! So I'll be listening sans commenting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
Aitch:

Change is actually changement in English, French being the older language one could argue. I know the French would.
  6:28pm
Martinibomb:

it's only 3:30 where I am so I'm getting ideas from everyone and getting super hungry.. stomach stop rumbling puhlease
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm

Avatar 6:29pm
MrCrispy:

@Mark R we'll all be over for soup in a half hour - see ya soon!
  6:31pm
Mark R:

Make it an hour. It has to bubble a while and mix all the carrot and onion and celery and cabbage and beans and sausage flavors together. Oh and a bit of parmesan and kale for about the last five minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Aitch:

Lovely track Martinibomb, I'll share with daughter, French major finishing high-school.
  6:32pm
Martinibomb:

I guess I'll make crepes for dinner. A nod to our french conversation here and the fact that it's also a breakfast food you can eat for dinner
  6:34pm
Martinibomb:

and it's going to be filled with onion celery cabbage and parmesan and kale - see how I William Burroughs my dinner together
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

That sounds delicious. How adept are you at crepe making?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Aitch:

You'll need some of the black meat then. Could be nice for a naked lunch?
  6:36pm
Martinibomb:

It is boring for the DJ to play a long play - like now what do I do? I guess i should go work on crepes.. @hopey oh I adore crepes actually I've been making them since I was a little kid
  6:37pm
Martinibomb:

I'm a huge fan of flour, egg, liquid things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Crepes are a pretty good idea, I'll have to add that to our dinner rotation.
Avatar 6:40pm
ARB:

I had savory bread pudding for breakfast, is that french?
  6:41pm
Martinibomb:

I also love yorkshire pudding/german pancakes very similar mixture just cooked different
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Oh, yorkshire pudding is so good! They are sort of a pudding-y popover. (Which reminds me, that is also a good thing to stuff with savory goodies)
  6:48pm
Martinibomb:

yup! I'm a weird savory person - not so into sweet. I love oatmeal savory for example. can't stand it with brown sugar
  6:49pm
Martinibomb:

give me a nice block of parm to season anything with and I'm happy
  6:51pm
Mark R:

This long track is KILLING me, it's so great! I must confess I've never heard of Grand Veymont. Also just thought I'd mention that when you start with a lot of garlic and onion, almost anything you add to that pot is good, and the smells are fantastic! My house now smells as good as it sounds!
  6:52pm
Martinibomb:

^I think almost everything I cook has garlic/onion I'm with ya! seriously garlic/onion oatmeal yeeeeeh
  6:53pm
Martinibomb:

I was also worried about playing this long track - but now I am glad I did because it's SUPER GOOD!
  6:53pm
Martinibomb:

I was even going to talk a little over it at the end and I just can't do it. hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

I don't know if I could take garlic oatmeal. And I love garlic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Although, I have had garlic ice cream and that was pretty good.
  6:54pm
Martinibomb:

it's more like risotto - little garlic in some olive oil + parm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

That does sound good. . .
  6:55pm
Martinibomb:

my partner in crime won't eat it tho - they prefer "regular" oatmeal haha
  6:57pm
Martinibomb:

I think little garlic/olive oil/parm has to mountains healthier than gobs of brown sugar and cinnamon sunk in an ocean of cow juice.
