For all of you field recordists out there, another fave technique of mine, is when someone is djing (good music) at a club, is to record from a distant bathroom or the walk-in beer cooler.

Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey northguineahills!
Great tip, I remember hearing a recording someone made of a vibrating metal plate outside a club, it was pretty dynamic

Good goodness. You probably already know that the NY Public Library released a record of field recordings. Someone linked to it on another comments board. I don’t hVe the link here. We only have the one computer.

Here's info on this Pablo Sanz track: The average daily traffic crossing the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon is about 150.000 cars and 157 trains. The drone is a distinctive sound in the area, changing according to the wind direction, speed and specific time of the day. Underneath the bridge, the phasing patterns can be appreciated with striking detail.

This piece samples the sonic flux generated by thousands of engines and wheels playing the suspension bridge structure, the passing trains and planes, modulated by the reflective surface of the Tagus river and the weather.

Environmental sonic matter created in February 2015.
Further editing and mastering, 2015-2020.

Since the first one was birds and breeze my mind read the highway drone sounds as possibly having gone in a bee hive. Part of me was saying, nah, it's industrial and part of me was preferring to imagine our POV being such that bees are truck size.
Avatar 7:56pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

hey WR!
Totally, leaving the track title open like that allows multiple entry points without locking into 'traffic' or whatever.

Been listening. And this show was a soundtrack to a personal mission to walk around my neighborhood, spot and tear-down some loon balls flyers that had a picture of a cattle car being loaded with people in WWII with the text “Social Distancing” superimposed on it.
