I think that stuff was still on the radio when I was a little kid then it slowly went away replaced by '60s oldies' radio. Which those are all gone now. There was one AM station left in Portland in the 90s that i used to listen to all the time that played that vibe - sunny 910! I miss that station

I was a 60s child. Seems like very year was a decade in itself for music back then. I rocked a 9-transistor radio with an earphone under the bedclothes into the wee wee hours listening to radio signals bouncing across Lake Superior from Chicago and Arkansas. And it was marionette DynAmation not Muppets (Fireball XL5, Supercar, Thunderbirds) for me.
