| This weekend, I visited the idyllic HACKLEBARNEY State Forest, near Chester NJ. That pic, way up top, was taken there. It's a beautiful place. And while I was there, descending this big set of rocks in what was already a pretty deep ravine, I discovered it ran yet deeper! And down below, at the bottom of a waterfall, I spied a man playing a fiddle! He had a terrible haircut, and the fiddle was in his lap. He had white tape wrapped around his fingertips because they were so badly blistered -- this I could tell even from 40 feet up the rocks -- and he was playing John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads", continually! It took awhile to pick out the tune, as the roar of the waterfall was so present -- but it came through. It was incredible, and yet another opportunity to kick myself for not having a recording device. So... my attempt at a recreation for you. | |||||
