	2:24pm Linda Lee: it amuses me that we loved just taping our own voices, with nothing special to say. i usually sent my tapes out to friends ~ audio letters ~ but not always.
	2:25pm Linda Lee: i started with a reel to reel, age 8 or 9, in the late 60s. just farting around with my own voice. so funny.
	2:27pm Otis Fodder: I would love to hear (and play if you like) any audio you have. Now it's all about YouTube personal videos where we had tape and reel recorders.
	2:28pm Otis Fodder: I started with a small panasonic in the 70s (kind with the handle that pulls out so you can carry it about.
	2:29pm Linda Lee: o gosh, i had one of those too! used to play my taped songs from the radio in public like that. pre boom box & definitely before walkman!
	2:30pm Otis Fodder: Total pre-walkman. I remember quite a few kids had those, they must have been pretty cheap or good priced. My got so beat up from carrying it around (and taking it to school in my backpack and remember that was sooo not allowed).

	4:30pm Otis Fodder: The net, blogs, saving files were so different in 2003. I was using spreadsheets too, up until like 2010!

	4:32pm Linda Lee: one thanksgiving holiday i attended a parade of regional high shool marching bands in asheville, north carolina. for some reason the bands were made up mostly of african american kids & they all kicked serious ass. it was phenomenal.

	5:50pm Otis Fodder: Kat, I hear you with the train and time off. I have to plan in advance to pad my trip by 2 days before/after... but when I can it's so worth it. Love the slow train and a window and bringing food on with books and shows on a tablet.

	5:52pm Linda Lee: back in 2010 i used my recorder often, for doing sound work with natural field recordings. 'the red hill project': one or 2 pieces a month, throughout the year. that was fun.
	5:53pm Otis Fodder: Just don't order a hamburger in the food car. They will throw that thing in a microwave to kill off alien gamma rays (or add) and then the sickness comes. I had one once.... once.

	9:13pm BC Sterrett: I guess I should have explained that 3 AM release better. These are recordings by local cartoonist Steve Anderson. They were found at his house full of massive stacks and boxes of random media, including home recordings of himself. When he showed me these two tapes, I decided to preserve them on CD-R format and had him draw the art and write the liner notes for his own release :) If you play the second half, it is divided into individual tracks, but he only lists it all simply as Track 4 in the liner notes. 	2:24pm Linda Lee: it amuses me that we loved just taping our own voices, with nothing special to say. i usually sent my tapes out to friends ~ audio letters ~ but not always.
	2:25pm Linda Lee: i started with a reel to reel, age 8 or 9, in the late 60s. just farting around with my own voice. so funny.
	2:27pm Otis Fodder: I would love to hear (and play if you like) any audio you have. Now it's all about YouTube personal videos where we had tape and reel recorders.
	2:28pm Otis Fodder: I started with a small panasonic in the 70s (kind with the handle that pulls out so you can carry it about.
	2:29pm Linda Lee: o gosh, i had one of those too! used to play my taped songs from the radio in public like that. pre boom box & definitely before walkman!
	2:30pm Otis Fodder: Total pre-walkman. I remember quite a few kids had those, they must have been pretty cheap or good priced. My got so beat up from carrying it around (and taking it to school in my backpack and remember that was sooo not allowed).
	2:31pm Linda Lee: it was not! no! i'd be happy to share some tapes with you, if they can be located. i've moved around a bit. :-)

Thanks Otis (trying to get work done so I will actually will have work to get one of those paycheck thingeys, so I can get my boombox back on the comments page).
	4:30pm Otis Fodder: The net, blogs, saving files were so different in 2003. I was using spreadsheets too, up until like 2010!

	4:32pm Linda Lee: one thanksgiving holiday i attended a parade of regional high shool marching bands in asheville, north carolina. for some reason the bands were made up mostly of african american kids & they all kicked serious ass. it was phenomenal.
	4:33pm Linda Lee: i could barely catch my breath. sure wish i'd had my walkman that day!

	5:38pm Otis Fodder: Of course, when I can, being that this travelogue is personal, I asked SOB (Diane) if these tapes can be aired she sent me in 2005. Her words are with permission and I love these tapes.

	5:42pm Linda Lee: you do get to know people on the long trips, but it's still very casual.
	5:42pm Otis Fodder: Some great conversations coming up on future shows. Bits spread out. Have 6 in total to play and total recorded time was something like 5 or 6 hours.
	5:43pm Linda Lee: i hear the cultural divide here, but you manage these conversations anyway. that's the great thing about train trips, too. you'll reach across differences.

	9:13pm BC Sterrett: I guess I should have explained that 3 AM release better. These are recordings by local cartoonist Steve Anderson. They were found at his house full of massive stacks and boxes of random media, including home recordings of himself. When he showed me these two tapes, I decided to preserve them on CD-R format and had him draw the art and write the liner notes for his own release :) If you play the second half, it is divided into individual tracks, but he only lists it all simply as Track 4 in the liner notes. Thanks for giving it a listen!
