Welcome to year 13 of Come To The Sunshine! Lucky us.

2006... how space age that once sounded

Yes, here we are after all of these years.

Luxuria's equipment was still brand new. I was married and my wife worked late on Mondays, so I started this show.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 5:53pm cometothesunshine:

Today is every bit as good as 13 years ago my friend!

and the lead is only mildly better

Hi Andrew, hope you are doing well. Apologies if this is a dumb question.
There is a version of "It Hurts To Be In Love" by Neil Sedaka on youtube which sounds finished with harmony vocal and all instrumentation.
In the Bear Family set there is only a basic track version with a single tracked vocal.
Do you know if the finished version was ever released officially and where? BF must have forgotten to include it in their box.

Hello Andrew! Hello everyone. Happy 13th to the Sunshine!

welcome DK!

Wow The Motions. Just a few months ago I bought an 8 CD set with all their stuff. Some.of it is less than stellar and some sound like lost Kinks/Who tracks.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:03pm cometothesunshine:

Javi - well today's hour of Motions is the very best of the best.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:05pm cometothesunshine:

This song from 1969 would have been great in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:05pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Happy 11 Andrew!
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:05pm mce1965:

I completely agree! Would have fit in perfectly with the alternate top 40 universe QT presents

Mon. 9/9/19 6:09pm Javi from Argentina:

I hate it when it happens.
You play a great song, I go try to find a CD with it to buy and boom, vinyl only according to discogs. Bummer.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:11pm mce1965:

Gee it sure would be great to have an Abnak various artists CD/download with things like this and the US Males etc.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:11pm cometothesunshine:

A lot of vinyl only in the first hour of this show.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:13pm cometothesunshine:

always stuff you won't find on CD, that is why I do it. To share stuff people don't normally hear/play. Even things you won't find on youtube!
Mon. 9/9/19 6:15pm Javi from Argentina:

Your show is amazing, Andrew.
And it makes me angry all the stuff that is yet to see the CD release.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:17pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks for the kind words!
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:21pm cometothesunshine:

I truly appreciate everyone who has listened over the past 13 years, a really fun exchange.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:22pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

This sounds like a Sonny Bono rip off record, lol!!!

And what's wrong with that GGGG?
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:25pm cometothesunshine:

This is one of my new faves: Bedforde Set - The World Through A Tear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:26pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Nothing, I've never heard of anyone pulling a Sonny before!
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

A great song
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:27pm mce1965:

It would be great to have this on an "RCA Groovy Groups" set
  🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:27pm DennisK:

I guess this show would mark approximately 12 years of friendship for us, Andrew - I remember you coming over to the Lux-Bonerz compound when I was in L.A., and bringing a copy of an early CTTS (the Graham Goldman special) that really put the hook in me! I've been an avid listener ever since, as you know!
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:28pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Dennis - I'll drink to that!
  🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:28pm DennisK:

And of course "The Best Of Andrew" was a winner too!
  🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:28pm DennisK:

I am doing so as we speak ;-)

What a lovely 45, indeed. That's a sublime arrangement

The Little Song I Once Knew

Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:37pm cometothesunshine:

Funny for such a flop single how many imitations it spawned.
  🎃 Mon. 9/9/19 6:39pm DennisK:

Maybe they figured out that two breaks of dead air did not a hit make
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:39pm cometothesunshine:

The groove is pretty quintessential Brian Wilson.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 6:54pm cometothesunshine:

I think this is one of the best runs of 45s ever played on this show.
Mon. 9/9/19 6:55pm Mark from TX:

It’s great to listen in real time.
Congrats on 13 years

  Mon. 9/9/19 7:18pm Kyler:

@Javi upthread - the version of "It Hurts To Be In Love" you want is on the compilation The Definitive Collection. It's not on the Bear box because it's not an RCA recording.
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:19pm Kyler:

Will listen tomorrow at work but just wanted to come in to the chatshine to say congratulations, Andrew!
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:20pm Kyler:

Fab selections so far.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:20pm cometothesunshine:

thanks, Kyler!
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:23pm Kyler:

Dig the Gettng Better meets Charlie & Fred-isms of "Nellie The Horse" - for some reason, only on the 8CD box in a mock-live version.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:24pm cometothesunshine:

Yeah, the "live" pye album is an odd one.
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:35pm Kyler:

LOVE Paper Trees. Am interested in hearing what the other five Jupiter songs are like.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:36pm cometothesunshine:

Me too - you never know what gems are hidden out there.
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:39pm Kyler:

Really hits home how essential Rudy Bennett's voice was to the sound of the band - that single could have been packaged as The Motions and no one would know the wiser.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:41pm cometothesunshine:

yeah, it is amazing how few people talk about Impressions when it is among the most solid albums of the 1960s.
Mon. 9/9/19 7:42pm Mark from TX:

Haven’t heard most of these. That’s why I tune in.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:43pm cometothesunshine:

yeah, lots to discover for all of us.
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:44pm Kyler:

It's still not readily available, which probably explains it.
  Mon. 9/9/19 7:45pm Kyler:

Whoever applied the noise reduction to Sensation on the CD set should be given a stern talking to! Interesting album.
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:46pm cometothesunshine:

It is transferred off azimuth - that is why the top end comes and goes.
Mon. 9/9/19 7:46pm Mark from TX:

The bass lines are great on these tracks
Mon. 9/9/19 7:53pm Mark from TX:

That flew by, thanks
Avatar Mon. 9/9/19 7:55pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks everyone - see you all again some sunny day. Lots of Sunshine to come.
