Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm

Ahh, @PB, my wife is of the, "if you haven't used it in 6 months, throw it out" mindset. I,on the other hand, an a collector, hoarder, hate throwing stuff out, makes for an interesting dynamic. Our 2 daughters split evenly along those lines as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm
Phillippe Bastille:

@doctorjazz My wife did not fall far from the tree in her family. Her parents spent about 20 years building a six bedroom house, one level (3 bedrooms) intended as a rental property for income when they retired. Only problem is momma was a hoarder, and only 2 bedrooms could be slept in by the time she passed. 2 garages, only one of which could hold a single car. 4 dumpsters and about a dozen full size pickup runs to Goodwill to clear it

@Fred,Carmichael, Phillippe, my wife likens her fate to Sisyphus, struggling against entropy, and her housemates/life-mate, to preserve order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

…enjoying these sounds, and the conversation about STUFF. I tend to "collect" stuff then go through wild purging phases. The problem is, my sweetie will pull all of the books i'm trying to get rid of out of the going away pile. We will be smothered under books someday, and he has no remorse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm
fred:

@doctojazz: What? Do you mean there is no order in your record collection?
@Granny Spicy Tuna: My neighbors' kids are fascinated by the piles of books they see from the door (I don't have much furniture, just piles)

tamar - were you on air in the early 90s? i feel like i was listening to you and heard 'sleepyhead' by ed kuepper and i ran out and bought the cd. it was one of my early fmu 'aha' moments.....

Again: "Ya know, at just about every point in the day someone is scrolling across the dial and getting their first exposure to FMU..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

@fred: piles is a style! my mama had so many friends with that style, i didn't realize the whole world wasn't like that until i explored the world a little furter…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
Phillippe Bastille:

@Granny I probably only need a dozen books or so now, because I can't remember reading anything two years down the road, and I'm an extremely slow reader.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm
doctorjazz:

@Fred, I went through a phase about 20 years ago where I alphabetized and created a database of all my LPs and CDs set the time (which was about 6,000 units...i had more free time then). Since then, though, I've struggled to keep it that way (and added many more albums), managed to keep it semi organized but much chaos exists in the midst of the original structure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm
chresti:

fred, my boyfriend has so many piles of books, records, and artwork, clothes, we have to carve a path to get to the windows and doors. I warn him I'll call the fire
marshal if he blocks the escape routes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

Phillippe Bastille: i have re-read books that i have read several times throughout my life and wondered, did i actually READ this? I've been bragging that this was my favorite novel and it's so unfamiliar?!?!? (same with movies)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
fred:

@Granny Spicy Tuna: My favorite bookshop is also big on the pile aesthetics (they do have shelves, but not enough, which makes accommodating more than a few customers in there challenging)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

chresti: i am very particular about escape routes! i am a hot mess about everything else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm
