Favoriting Cannibal Stew: Playlist from August 1, 2019 Favoriting

ARB swings to the other Belgian Popcorn. Very passionate vocalists, naive orchestrations, irreverent pranks.

Martinibomb:

Nicknamke for Cecilia?
Avatar 1:08pm
arb:

Avatar 1:09pm
Mr Fab:

But it's a male singing (tho he does have a high voice). Domicile? Reconcile? Imbecile?
Avatar 1:10pm
arb:

It's a lady, but she's singing as a man
Avatar 1:11pm
arb:

Imbe'cile is a lovely name
  1:21pm
Martinibomb:

Imbe'cile? is that what Turner's full name is?
Avatar 1:23pm
Mr Fab:

I think she's joking - Imbe'cile like "imbecile." But is Titus Turner related to 'Cile?
Avatar 1:23pm
Mr Fab:

And are they both related to Ike n Tina?
Avatar 1:24pm
Linda Lee:

well! just walked in thinking of Turner from 'Performance' & here's all the chat about Turner's full name. in 'Performance' he was just Turner.
Avatar 1:26pm
Mr Fab:

Linda Lee:

talk about a popular misconception finding its own commercial valule! :-D
Avatar 1:38pm
Linda Lee:

i'm so wigged i wrote 'valule'.
Avatar 1:39pm
Mr Fab:

i once checked to see if Richard Hell credited "Dor" (Rod McKuen) as co-writer of "Blank Generation." No, he did not.
Avatar 1:40pm
Mr Fab:

Ella sang about Ringo?!
Avatar 1:40pm
Linda Lee:

no? what a deadbeat.
  1:40pm
brainiac:

I can't believe the great Ella was reduced to a novelty song
Avatar 1:41pm
Linda Lee:

everyone had to respond to what was happening. even i did ~ & i was 4 years old! it was just phenomenal..
Avatar 1:41pm
Mr Fab:

maybe she really liked Ringo?
Avatar 1:41pm
Otis Fodder:

Hi DJ ARB! Been listening, just wanted to send a quick hello shout out!
Avatar 1:42pm
Mr Fab:

Cher's first record was a Ringo novelty.
Avatar 1:42pm
Linda Lee:

that wasn't much of a Ringo beat though, was it.
yes, i am going back to work. really.
  1:42pm
brainiac:

Yeah, I think this 45 record is playing at 33.3
Avatar 1:43pm
arb:

oh, he's Rod and Dor is his name backwards, i get it now
Avatar 1:43pm
arb:

Hi Otis
Avatar 1:45pm
arb:

Braniac, yes it was pitched down but not all the way to 33 1/3
  1:46pm
brainiac:

I hate to be a stinker, but this is also playing at the wrong speed. Is this today's theme?
Avatar 1:46pm
arb:

Everydays theme on Cannibal Stew
  1:47pm
brainiac:

1st time listener. I'll shut up now
Avatar 1:47pm
arb:

It's okay, you can stink all you want
Avatar 1:48pm
arb:

We won't eat you
Avatar 1:49pm
Mr Fab:

Well, records can be played a different speed. Not necessarily the "wrong" speed, if you're doing it for effect. And this show really evokes an atmosphere.

Hi everyone! Thank you!
Avatar 1:53pm
arb:

I'm surprised no one brought up "wrong speed" until today honestly, I've gotten away with it for a month now...
Avatar 1:54pm
Otis Fodder:

The speed variations very much set the mood. Keep 'em coming.
  1:54pm
brainiac:

Most people are more appreciative than I am
Avatar 1:55pm
Mr Fab:

i had noticed it. Just figured you were doing your thing.
Avatar 1:57pm
Linda Lee:

what a beautiful voice you have! wow.
Avatar 1:58pm
arb:

The original popcorn DJ's in Belgium were known for their down -pitching. Today it has the added benefit (in my opinion) of making songs usually not traceable by apps like shazam
Avatar 1:58pm
Linda Lee:

just showin i'm still here.. :-D
Avatar 1:58pm
arb:

Wow, what a sweet compliment, thanks so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm

There is no wrong speed. People are just listening at a different speed than what you're playing. Keep up, people!
