Hi everyone!

This set is, once again, hitting the spot
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:16pm northguineahills:

Moving while it's pouring rain, I suppose it's fun as long as Therese (well, WFMU in general, as I've been doing it since dawn solo) provides the soundtrack.

Sun. 7/28/19 5:26pm John from Florham park:

@NGH good luck with all that packing guy
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:29pm Therese:

@NGH- moving is the WORST. And in bad weather is the WORSTEST. Good luck...
  Sun. 7/28/19 5:36pm Impboy:

Wow. I haven't heard this track since this album came out in the '90s. I interviewed Towa. He went into this disconsolate rant about climate change and what his kids were going to face in the future. I still think about those words to this day - quite a bit, actually.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:36pm northguineahills:

I'm going to try to slowly move my record shelves in his pickup to his loft space. At least it's less then a mile, and we can take the residential circuitous route.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:39pm coelacanth∅:

moving records is the worst thing, in my opinion. heavy and fragile and important.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:40pm coelacanth∅:

one year i moved 5 times. i had probably not much more than 1000 at the time, at least.

I saw a monarch today in philly. Got the milkweed ready to go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:44pm coelacanth∅:

i've seen many more fireflies this year than i have in many years. more dragonflies too. both very good things.
...more butterflies than last year at this time, including monarchs and beautiful mostly black ones; i didn't think of it as bad.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:44pm northguineahills:

I planted some milkweed in Feb, and have gotten some monarchs as of the last two weeks (I'm in FL).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:45pm coelacanth∅:

...but yes we are in "end times". that was "our" choice.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:47pm northguineahills:

@coel: I'm powered by my early beer, I know I'll be in pain later. I got all of my recs, save maybe 700, in my Subaru. I just need to drive slow so the load doesn't shift. I'll let you know on the next shift! Salud, amigos!
Sun. 7/28/19 5:49pm Dan from Delco:

Lots of fireflies this year too. I remember seeing them into October last year.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:49pm RobinSays:

I've heard there's a lot of dragonflies in lower Manhattan lately (I saw a smooshed one in Brooklyn the other day).Thanx for playing Eddy Senay! I'd never heard of him before. He's really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:49pm coelacanth∅:

good luck ngh! ...really slow, because this is the opportunity for some dipshit to cut you off or something.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:53pm northguineahills:

@coel: taking the residential circuitous route, very slowly, where there will be no traffic, for just that reason.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 5:54pm Therese:

@Impboy- makes sense. I remember Deee-lite being one of the first acts to move away from plastic packaging.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 5:59pm coelacanth∅:

i'm still trying to figure out how cutting down more trees for paper bags is better for the ecology/climate than drilling for oil.
...anyway at least -about 40 years too late and an infinite number of years after the more civilized countries - states in the us are requiring stores to charge $ for bags.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 6:00pm JIMD2019:

You know when some chad asshole is protecting the spare window seat and holding onto the seat as if to block the way through- I hate that

Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 6:23pm Franco Twinkie:

Marquee Moon still sounds as jarring as it did when it came out in 1977. Does that weirdly qualify it as a "Classic?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 7/28/19 6:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Franco - makes it as good as anything.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 6:28pm JIMD2019:

My only regret is that I listened to it too much
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 6:29pm Franco Twinkie:

RR, I will accept that as classic.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 6:32pm Franco Twinkie:

JIMD, I too ground the shit out that record, but hearing in come out computer changes the context somehow.

The name of that last band makes me think of Sylvia Pinal, the great Mexican actress who made more that a few Luis Bunuel movies so compelling.

Hello there, Therese

Sun. 7/28/19 7:06pm Dan from Delco:

I learned of band called Witch Vomit today. That’s gotta he spooky music.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:07pm Franco Twinkie:

Crystal Blue Persuasion is the song that marks the moment when the cholos went hippie where I come from.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:08pm northguineahills:

Ok, moved my recs to my friend's loft, and my car battery die. after 30 mins, got it working again, and then we tried to move one of my record shelves to his truck, and it broke apart. This is the universe saying, "fuck you", because of reasons. Off to Lowes to see if we resuscitate my shelf somehow. I need a drink (sorry, I'm not usually so stressed).
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:11pm Franco Twinkie:

Take it slow, NGH. It's be over soon.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:11pm northguineahills:

Dropped a '78, and it didn't break, first not-negative thing to happen to me today!

A sign that things are turning around, @NGH.

Close, @tak. I was going to mention the film version of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:23pm JakeGould:

R.I.P. Rutger Hauer. He actually rewrote that speech too better fit his understanding of a replicants mind. ‘The two lines Hauer kept from the original draft of the speech were “attack ships” and “C-beams.” Hauer believed the original speech was written in a way that was too operatic, a tone he felt a replicant would never use.’ www.indiewire.com...
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:25pm JakeGould:

It makes sense: Simple minded, emotionally aware and conscious of mortality and its experiences.

Also, there are some great online discussions about what life in those “Off World Colonies” might be like. The general conclusion is it has to all be a hells cape if there are so many replicants deployed there to keep societies afloat.

wew thanks for the reminder, totally forgot how funny he is in that one
Avatar Sun. 7/28/19 7:33pm northguineahills:

Everything music related is moved but my shelves, chresti, my friend went to Lowes to get supplies to fix the one the broke down. I hired Russian movers in Brooklyn, to move my stuff in FL, and it cost me $2K, and they broke my CD and record shelves, so, I had to cobble them back together. So, now, hanging on by dawls and glue, one just shattered.

RIP Rutger Hauer indeed. The plot of Blind Fury makes me consider it one of the greatest movies ever. I need to see it.
