The Artistry of Sessa / NYC's Brasil Summerfest

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

Brazilian singer / guitarist Sessa got on the indie radar with a couple of rather raucous outfits, São Paulo Tropicalia revivalists Garotas Suecas and Yonatan Gat's band. He takes a more introspective yet still very expressive turn on his critically acclaimed debut album, the sensual, minimalist gem Grandeza (Boiled Records).

Sessa heads to Brooklyn to perform at National Sawdust, 80 North 6th St. in Williamsburg, as part of the fabulous annual festival Brasil Summerfest this Wednesday night. Up-and-coming singer Ilya from Fortaleza, Brazil opens.

Tickets / info for Sessa + Ilya @ National Sawdust Wednesday night (July 24th; 7 pm doors, 8 pm show): https://nationalsawdust.org/event/sessa/

The wonderful annual festival Brasil Summerfest, with ticketed as well as several free events through August 3rd 2019 at venues all around NYC (quoting from the festival website) "showcases a fine selection of Brazilian artists. Ranging from traditional to contemporary styles, they are connected by their ability to stir that intense energy. The festival also presents film, food, art and talks, making it a true cultural display of contemporary Brazil. Brasil Summerfest’s mission is to keep pushing cultural boundaries, spreading Brazil’s contagious fever to the wide New York public and beyond!"
