Man, these 45s are fantastic!! What a buncha great finds!!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:12pm cometothesunshine:

The Monkees eat way too much food and it is impossible to stay trim in their company.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:13pm DennisK:

LOL
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:13pm Babinga:

lol I blame Dan Mapp

Welcome back, Andrew! Feeling fortunate to hear what you've prepared for us today. Fun time is now!!!

Thanks, Olivia!

this show may be all you need
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:22pm cometothesunshine:

There are tons of great records from the era - I have played many more on older shows. Today's are all songs never before played in the past 13 years.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:26pm GFaulkner:

Oooh, this ones great. Mojo Queen.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:26pm cometothesunshine:

You can star the songs you like in the playlist next to the track title
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:27pm DennisK:

How about "select all"? ;-)
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:32pm cometothesunshine:

Love the Twilights!
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:32pm Babinga:

awesome
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:33pm cometothesunshine:

Apparently the bassist is still talking about the day I came to visit him at his shop in Adelaide in 2016. Apparetly, one of the other band members doesn't believe a guy from Los Angeles would know about their music.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:35pm Babinga:

yeah, i think I'll have to download this show today
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:36pm AubreyColors:

Hello :)
Andrew, were you familiar with the Australian/New Zealand late-1960s pop scene before you traveled there?
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, very much so, Aubrey
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

I have been a huge fan of The Easybeats for about 30 years and all this other music came from that starting place. Much like The Beatles and the rest of my life.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:40pm DennisK:

Shows what I know - was totally unaware that The Easybeats were from down under
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:41pm cometothesunshine:

They all came from other places, but formed in Australia. Kinda like The Bee Gees.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:41pm DennisK:

Wow, interesting
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:42pm Mailman Tom:

When they sing, you can't hear their Australian accents!
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:42pm DennisK:

Oh, this Coke ad is AMAZING
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:43pm AubreyColors:

I knew about your interest in the early Bee Gees enough to write a book about them :)
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:46pm cometothesunshine:

I am hopefully updating that and, for the first time in 15 years, I actually did some writing to update my Monkees book this past week.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:48pm cometothesunshine:

Great Bee Gees backing vocals on this one.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:49pm AubreyColors:

Spicks and Specks was the name of an Australian music-themed comedic television quiz show apparently.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:49pm Babinga:

very cool ..you book is the best
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:49pm cometothesunshine:

Makes sense - was an iconic hit Down Under
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:50pm AubreyColors:

I'll be first in line to buy your books again. ha!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:51pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Aubrey! Gotta finish them first.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:52pm AubreyColors:

lol.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:53pm Debbie D.:

Thank you for the sunshine, Andrew! TGIM.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:54pm DennisK:

I was about to mention that, upon my return home from vacation, I found (some) water in the basement studio, and one f the casualties was your Monkees book! :-( So an updated edition will be most welcome!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:54pm cometothesunshine:

Ah, so nice, Debbie! You make it all happen. Thank you for the happy years here on Ichiban.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:54pm DennisK:

What Debbie said! (Hi, Debbie!)
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:54pm cometothesunshine:

Sorry to hear about your book - you know those are actually worth money now!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:56pm cometothesunshine:

Crazy to find this version of the Smoke/Shots song - thought it was a nice way to tie back in to the last episode of CTTS before I left.
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:57pm DennisK:

I had no doubt about the book's value, Andrew!
  Mon. 7/1/19 6:59pm AubreyColors:

I had a copy of your Monkees book that yourself and Peter Tork both signed, but it was signed to my birthname which I don't associate with any more. Then randomly a friend of mine from Houston bought me another copy of your book for Christmas one year (not knowing that I already had it), so I gave away my signed copy and am left with the unsigned copy … but still happy as an uneaten popsicle with the unsigned copy.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 6:59pm Debbie D.:

Cheers, Dennis!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:00pm cometothesunshine:

I can sign it. Sorry that Peter can't, truly. But always happy to sign and personalize books.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:03pm cometothesunshine:

A great band, the Nashville Ramblers, cover this song live.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

These Allusions records are great - I bought a bunch on this trip.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:04pm KarenS:

Andrew has been spreading Easyfever around for years and years! ;-)
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:05pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, Karen - that and my Grapefruit diet.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:07pm cometothesunshine:

This was their biggest hit - The Dancer
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:08pm AubreyColors:

"The Dancer" sort-of kind-of has the same feel as "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You"
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:10pm cometothesunshine:

A fantastic Kinks cover.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:12pm Olivia Greene:

This is my first time hearing The Allusions. Thank you so much for the wonderful introduction, Andrew.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:13pm cometothesunshine:

My pleasure, Olivia! A fairly slim discography, and you will hear every good track today.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:22pm cometothesunshine:

Some really great, mostly original, songs.
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:23pm uptownjen:

Yeah, I dig this “Lady of Leisure” song for some reason.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:23pm cometothesunshine:

They are Beatley in a very narrow, cool way
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:29pm DennisK:

Some lovely records here -- I especially liked the solo section on Lady Of Leisure -- beautiful sounds
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:31pm DennisK:

Dead chuffed (or whatever the Aussie equivalent is) to be home for your show, Andrew, and to hang with you and our fellow baskers in the sunshine.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:31pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, I agree DK
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:32pm DennisK:

Did the band do these great arrangements themselves? Love this shimmering keyboard sound!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:33pm cometothesunshine:

I know very little about their process, but they are certainly consistent and nice.
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:33pm DennisK:

Or IS it a keyboard?
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:33pm Olivia Greene:

Harp?
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:34pm cometothesunshine:

almost like vari-speed guitar
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:34pm DennisK:

Could be half-speed guitar
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:34pm DennisK:

Bingo :-)
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:35pm cometothesunshine:

Some very early George Harrison like guitar work
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:35pm AubreyColors:

Thank you for the music Andrew. I must be off.
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:36pm cometothesunshine:

This one - Blue Tomorrow - is like faux Gary Lewis
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:36pm cometothesunshine:

See you soon, Aubreay - take care
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:36pm DennisK:

YES!

sorry, Aubrey!
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:37pm Santos L Halper:

Gotta run too, thanks for a great show!
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:37pm DennisK:

Tone pedal guitar
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:37pm cometothesunshine:

Thank you for listening.
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:38pm DennisK:

I Ain't Goin' Nowhere
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:39pm cometothesunshine:

Today is a little shorter too, since I refused to play anything that wasn't totally fantastic.
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:40pm DennisK:

Well, you hit the mark - Fab from top to bottom
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:42pm DennisK:

Parlophone, of course - truly The Mark Of Quality
  Mon. 7/1/19 7:43pm DennisK:

Oh, MAN - that Bee Gees Coke ad is GREAT! What an arrangement!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:43pm Olivia Greene:

Until next time, thank you, Andrew!
Avatar Mon. 7/1/19 7:44pm Woof:
