Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 3:13pm tim from champaign:

Hello Fabio and everybody. Not to sound like Clay but did anyone else thing that Bob Seger may have "borrowed" the melody from that Eno song for Still The Same?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 3:13pm tim from champaign:

Actually, if I sounded like Clay I'd say the reverse.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 3:19pm tim from champaign:

@Johnzon - yeah, that's the one.
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 3:20pm coelacanth∅:

i listened to both Brian Eno and Bob Seger in 1978, but i never noticed the similarity...and i can't think of how still the same goes, at this point.
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 3:21pm coelacanth∅:

(i'm sorry...1978 being when still the same was released)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 3:21pm steveo:

oh, oops, bad guess :(

Clay and Fabio together during the fundraiser = Radio Gold. That Eno sounded like no version I’ve ever heard before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 3:22pm tim from champaign:

This puts me in mind of a seance--waiting, waiting, or the aural equivalent of someone in the middle of a vietnam war flashback while on a psychedelic in a film......
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 4:09pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Is the live stream down? Anybody else having issues?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 4:12pm -Ken:

Summer and Michael and Sylvia - Im not having any stream issues - are you listening on your phone, or computer? Do you know which stream you're not receiving? Any details you can give me would help.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 4:12pm Carmichael:

My iPhone app is working just fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 4:16pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

I've said this before and will continue to say it...thanks Fabio for the film round ups. I don't live near NYC but it's so cool to hear about films I've never heard of as well as films I need to revisit. Please continue!

regret not being hip to her material until very late.
  Thu. 6/6/19 5:05pm organ silo:

"Chas" and "Chad" and "Tad" always kind of cracked me up... you never meet any Teds anymore. I bet the frequency of the name "Donald" will go down drastically for a while

Chester is my childhood nickname
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 5:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

It's a hell of a thing to go through 4th grade with, I'll say that much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:11pm Linda Lee:

Chas Devlin is very possibly the greatest British film gangster of all time. the name will always be his.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:14pm Linda Lee:

this Larssen wind harp recording would fit right into that film, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:14pm Ike:

Pauline Kael's awesomely brutal takedown of the monstrously overrated 2001: A Space Odyssey (yes I am a total heretic, I know, I know) is perhaps the thing I love her the most for. I've probably posted this before here, but if you didn't see it, here it is. 'Tis truly a thing of beauty: scrapsfromtheloft.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:21pm tim from champaign:

Ike, you heretic! Go listen to Felder!
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 5:22pm Fabio:

@ IKE: ...and this is perhaps the thing she is best remembered for: getting people to argue over movies! She was divisive to say the very least, and she had many who disagreed with her. My guy was Andrew sarris, who was her polar opposite, and a great critic as well. I didn't always agre3e with him either, but I felt he was more precise in his analyses. and to be clear, I am absolutely IN the 2001 camp -- I love it and anything Kubrick did...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:29pm tim from champaign:

Speaking of Kubrick, I'm really digging recent films that have a Barry Lyndon vibe with the cinematography like Sophia Coppola's Beguiled and The Favourite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Kubrick films are like a good novel: change how you look @ things...his attention to detail & framing every shot. Anybody ever see him in Lynch that way?? Or is that a nutty comparison...
2001 floored me when I was 10 or 12 or something...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:30pm common:

Happy Thursday fabio and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Strangelove! How is that not perfect??
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 5:32pm dale:

wait - this doesn't sound like frankie avalon or olivia newton john.
Avatar Thu. 6/6/19 5:33pm Fabio:

@ Revolution Rabbit Nov63: Strangelove IS perfect!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:33pm Linda Lee:

is it possible i've never seen Strangelove? it is! self-education *always* has holes. time to fix that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...wull - I only know the 'Pop Obvious' ones - not Lolita or Lyndon...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:41pm Michael 98145:

I surely miss Andrew Sarris ...

Funny Anatol is also a Russian name (have a friend named that).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:43pm Linda Lee:

Lolita is just amazing. so dank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:45pm chresti:

Lolita is one of my favorites
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:45pm Linda Lee:

a proper tormented James Mason is just perfect.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 6/6/19 5:48pm Linda Lee:
