Thanks Otis, really dug those mixed-up mixes.

I know the busy days Don-O. Jumping over to work now (ha) but listening and will pop in/out. Back to chickens...

I had to bleed for science earlier this morning at 7:30...which led up to internet trouble....which led to looking at a new house in Bullhead City, AZ....and then went off for a walk.

This sounds very familiar. I might be having a flashback. . .

I feel the same way, Hopey. Like I wonder if this show wasn't syndicated on some station my parents used to listen to when I was a kid. They were sort of fans of comedy on radio BitD.

Beware of forbidding Goodwill semi-plug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm

Goodwills in general are pretty awful for records. Someone there once confided in me that most valuable things actually get sold through their online outlet and rarely hit this stores anymore.

Bulldada!

Goodwill has driven nearly every independent thrift/junk/consignment store out of town in my area.

Senior discounts? Only three times a week. Bastards.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm

Stang sounds different here.

I sometimes find interesting CDs left out in boxes on the street here for people to take. Most are not too interesting, but it's often worth a look.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm amazed how quickly I went from 'You're really <insert age>?' to 'Do you qualify for the senior discount?'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Rich in Washington:

CDs now are like how records were in the 80s and 90s. I am finding quite a lot of interesting CDs, often for very cheap.

Bob, April, and Larry. What a combo!

That KABC thing was crazy.

MELBA!

Melba, love this one.
Avatar 6:23pm
Don-O:

If you liked that KABC track, blame April Winchell. Thinkin' of a all April show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Rich in Washington:

My fave is Gay Day. Her backhanded putdown of Bob Larson is top notch.
Avatar 6:24pm
Mr Fab:

now you know why April was fired/Mr K quit commercial radio. They didn't exactly fit in with Rush and Dr Laura, did they?
Avatar 6:24pm
Otis Fodder:

Do it! If you do an April show let me know when and I'll plan to play the last hour of FP with selections from April's Top Downloadable hits from back in the day.
Avatar 6:25pm
Don-O:

Otis, will let you know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm

April's blog was an early source of merriment n' mp3s for me, back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm

particularly odd German cover songs
Avatar 6:28pm
Mr Fab:

She put her old website back up with all those wacky mp3s:

I don't think I'd ever actually heard Charles Bukowski's voice before - just read him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. But not really blogging anymore. She's awesome for putting those back up. Wonder what she's up to now?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Woah Mr. Fab, that is a treasure trove of awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah. It's a trip. Definitely doesn't match his writing. It took me a while to get used to, too.
Avatar 6:32pm
Otis Fodder:

Like Paul Williams, Jim Webb and other amazing songwriters... there is always radio room for Randy Newman in my book.
Avatar 6:34pm
Mr Fab:

April was off radio for a few years after a string of tragedies, inc the death of her husband. But, as Don-O pointed out, she recently started appearing on the former Mr K (Marc Germain) internet show. She has a standing invitation to host a show here at the Jungle Room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Second that. Randy's the real deal. He's right up there with Nilsson in my book.
Avatar 6:34pm
Jeff Moore:

And the official WFMU line is – play whatever the fuck you want on your own show. If you've internalized some notion that there will be peer pressure or group shaming for anything – shrug that off and play it prouder. It all works as long as you believe in it yourself.
Avatar 6:35pm
Don-O:

April is living in Las Vegas, does the occasional voice job for Disney and, as I said in this show, shows up occasionally on Marc Germen's Talk Radio One.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh man.
Speaking of songwriters...
I am just now seeing that Roky Erickson has boarded the mothership.
Avatar 6:35pm
Mr Fab:

I quite like Bukowski's recordings. Puts a unique spin on his writings. He used to regularly give readings so there's a ton of 'em out there.
Avatar 6:36pm
Don-O:

Jeff: I got some lip service when I played a remixed Queen song. That didn't help when they keep licnesscing (sic) every one of their damned songs to commercials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Rich in Washington:

Probably the best Hank of disc is Hostage, which came out on, I think Freeway records(?) or Wordbeat?
Avatar 6:38pm
Mr Fab:

Nooo...not Roky!? is that confirmed?
Avatar 6:38pm
Otis Fodder:

Yep, play anything and everything dear to the heart... or absconded from the heart and too good to let lie dyin'.
Avatar 6:39pm
Otis Fodder:

I'm still waitin' for 24 hours of Xanadu on Sheena's. One day soon...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm

I love this part!
I was just yesterday thinking about ripping this movie as audio files! Weird!
Avatar 6:42pm
Don-O:

Rich, were you driving at the time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Rich in Washington:

Apparently Roky's brother Sumner Erickson announced it today and it's on some news sites.
Avatar 6:43pm
Don-O:

Otis, I'm working on Ultimate Xanadu Vol. 25. It's not done, but is certainly in the works. You wanna copy now or later?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes. And yelling through my megaphone, as is my wont.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
Rich in Washington:

I might have to do a Roky tribute show next week. Sad day.
Avatar 6:50pm
Otis Fodder:

@Don-O - Later is just fine. Thanks! I have so much Xanadu here I have become a muse.
Avatar 6:51pm
