Avatar 8:20pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Coelacanthø!
Hi Ricardo!
I'm taking a little break from the weekly grind, work on some other projects and get my head together :)
Avatar 8:21pm
TDK60:

,,well, have a good break; doing a show takes a lot of weekly prep (I did an internet show for 3 years once.)
Avatar 8:23pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

It's endlessly rewarding and therapeutic to some extent just to be able to be on the air every week but yeah it really does take a lot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
coelacanth∅:

the truth is i rarely get to hear more than 2 hours and often only 1 of the 7-10 shows over the summer, because of outdoor work. and it's not like i don't miss Kurt (though he does a fair bit of fill-ins)
...anyway, hopefully you actually will come back.
Avatar 8:29pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

oh haha, that thought hadn't crossed my mind
Avatar 8:29pm
northguineahills:

this reminds me of Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum).....

Usually it takes me as much time to prep for each dj gig/radio gig as long as the gig +1 hour. (In my younger days I made aleatoric scores). longer then 3 hours, +2 hours, then there was the 24 hr dj gig I did for an art gallery in Brooklyn. (I took naps during long tracks, don't ask how I stayed awake otherwise).
Avatar 8:34pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

A 24 hour dj gig sounds like a dream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
chresti:

Having a two month break sounds like a dream, too!

chresti:

Avatar 8:45pm
northguineahills:

(most people brought sleeping bags).
Avatar 8:46pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah Aman is a Greek duo doing kind of contemporary improvisational versions of rembetika songs
Avatar 8:48pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Alright northguineahils, have a great late spring/summer then and I'll see you on the other side!
Avatar 8:52pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm

Avatar 8:55pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hi quinn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm
coelacanth∅:

chresti that's a good description
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm
chresti:

I don't know if I would be able to sleep at an all niter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
coelacanth∅:

if it's loud enough i can sleep
Avatar 9:18pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Maybe after an all dayer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
coelacanth∅:

(or, if it's a bath, deep enough!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
coelacanth∅:

many people push themselves beyond what their bodies are equipped for, so body switches to adrenaline-fueled (nervous) energy; so, for myself and presumably some others even after going full-throttle all day i have trouble sleeping because body doesn't know how to shut down from that.
for me, loud music -especially something i'm slightly familiar with (but not too much) lets me relax because there's no effort to hear it and my mind appreciates it without consciously listening.
