Hello! I'm currently in agony because I pulled a muscle in my side/back! Hurray! Be kind ;-)
Avatar 1:00pm
Mr Fab:

Yikes! Hope you're getting lots o' rest. And maybe Dave can drop some 'happy pills' on down to you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Here we go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm

Just taken a strong painkiller so happiness is on its way hopefully! :-)

I usually enjoy pulling my muscle. But seriously, ladies and gentlemen...

Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Georgy and Mr. Fab. Oh Dear, Georgy, did that just happen before the show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yesterday. I've been hoping it'd wear off but alas, no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Painkiller taken, hot water bottle behind me :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm

Hiya, DJ GeorgyGirl!
Avatar 1:06pm
Mr Fab:

i've often used "It's All Too Much" as a great example of an ordinary tune they attempted to save by throwing every production trick in the book at it. if nothing else, it SOUNDS great. But still got banished to "Yellow Submarine" which was the Beatles "island of Misfit Songs."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Rich! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm

Sorry about the back/side pain. If you feel, you heal!

Up late after doing my KBOO show last night. Now the house is empty, so loud it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm

Except don't listen out for me to talk about the new schedule as the show goes on, because I completely forgot. ;-)

Martinibomb:

Hi Georgy and everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Bit of a melancholy mood this week but I guess it works for the end of the week :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey MB! :-)

Painting while I’m listening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I like that I inspire a creative mood :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've been loving your gouaches!
  1:43pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks just discovered Acryla Goache which is a cross between arcylica and goache. Colors look the same wet as dry and I can layer better. Super loving it.. new medium
Avatar 1:43pm
Otis Fodder:

Hi MB. Very nice grooves to brush away the day to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've always loved acrylics :-) I'm too impatient for anything else! :-)
  1:46pm
Martinibomb:

I haven’t done oils since I was a teen and really want to give that a go again. Also very interested in old style egg tempera
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I would love to see that! The egg tempura. My father-in-law gave me an article he'd read about Rothko and egg in the paints and how impossible it is to clean his paintings. And how they don't have the same light as when he first painted them because of the egg. Fascintaing stuff :-)
  1:49pm
Martinibomb:

Have to say acrylic paint technology has really improved in just the last few years. Even 15 years ago it was not nearly as good as it is now. Finer pigments and things you can mix in for different textures etc.. acrylic is just as good as oil now
  1:51pm
Martinibomb:

Mark Rothko is actually from Portland. People don’t know that. Imigrated here when he was a little kid
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Really??? I didn't know that!!! I absolutely ADORE Rothko. The Rothko Room in the Tate is one of my favourite places in the Universe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Guess who edited so precisely that they had a spare 20 seconds left over to fill? ;-)
Avatar 1:56pm
Otis Fodder:

I am your friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

You very definitely are, my lovely :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is NOT the instrumental version of Lola. I spaced out and read the wrong bit of my notes. Doh.
Avatar 2:03pm
Mr Fab:

Gonna get that "Groupie Girl" song to add to the Sheena stream (esp. with that ridiculous band name). But then again, any songs/audio about groupies are pretty much automatically in there. (Y'know, like a certain Bran Flakes track, eh Otis?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's Grab A Groupie Week here on Sheena's Jungle Room! ;-)
Avatar 2:04pm
Otis Fodder:

@Fab - Sampled the trailer in 1998 for that one. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

THIS is the instrumental of Lola.
  2:06pm
Martinibomb:

Pretty hilarious little set here - diggin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you!! :-) I was nervous that it would be too melancholy or mellow. Not mellow ... downbeat. that's the word.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

We're somewhere between Dave the Seagull and Frame Duggy Louder with this track! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

What just happened??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My bad ... typed the wrong track and freaked myself out!!!
Avatar 2:26pm
Otis Fodder:

Cucumber Castle is one of the BG albums to avoid. I have tried, and tried again and the LP has gone once again into a purge pile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I wasn't paying attention for a few minutes. Did Duggy break into the show? My apologies on his behalf. He's as mad as a cucumber sometimes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's just ... yeah. The lure of Light Entertainment ;-)
Avatar 2:27pm
Otis Fodder:

But... right after... Trafalgar, amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There was a definite hint of Duggy there ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There may be some more feathered madness on the horizon, Dave fans! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I can't believe it took my an hour and a half to cook and eat breakfast. Maybe I was abducted by aliens.
  2:28pm
Martinibomb:

Speaking of british tv in the 70s that I find really alien/odd. The sitcom *that’s my boy* the main character is married to a super hot model who makes more money than him but he constantly calls her a cow. Can’t imagine calling my super hot model wife a cow - she’d kill me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I don't think I know that one! There did seem to be this trend in British TV at the time of middle aged men with dolly birds. Bit too much wishful thinking.
Avatar 2:30pm
Mr Fab:

"mad as a cucumber" - gonna have to remember that one, Jan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
Rich in Washington:

We have that in the US and A, with tubby, schlubby comedians playing husband to really attractive women.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I just the other day learned where Anthony Burgess came up with the title to his most popular novel. He overheard an aged Cockney gent in a pub refer to someone as 'queer as a clockwork orange'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also - he's as useful as a chocolate teapot ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow! I've never heard that before! That's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Uh oh. Reached the end of my coffee. This could get ugly.
Avatar 2:35pm
Mr Fab:

As a choco-holic, i would find a chocolate teapot VERY useful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Weirdly, I've just finished my coffee too. Debating if I can run to the kitchen between typing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Brace yourselves seagull fans ...
  2:40pm
Martinibomb:

Hello Dave!
Avatar 2:41pm
Mr Fab:

Spencer Davis again! I've probably mentioned this before, but last New Years Eve, we were on Catalina Island, and island resident Spencer Davis played a fantastic free outdoor show for us lucky folks. All the more reason for Georgy to visit LA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Rich in Washington:

DJ GeorgyGirl:

There's your weekly fix :-)
  2:47pm
Martinibomb:

I’ve been wanting to write an adventure show for sheenas where all the djs play themselves but it’s ya know kinda this fantasy world of sheena’s..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wow - nearly at the end of the show! Stick around for Otis after me :-) www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Can I be taller?
  2:49pm
Martinibomb:

Maybe a pen & paper RPG where you can roll your own Sheena’s DJ. It’ll be my give away for the next marathon lol
Avatar 2:49pm
Otis Fodder:

@MB - That would be fun!
  2:50pm
Martinibomb:

It starts with an adventure show but that all gets rolled into an old school RPG so to speeak give away a book for donations etc.. hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

That sounds fabulous :-)
  2:51pm
Martinibomb:

I can’t wait to visit the Flange and Frigate in the Sheena’s RPG
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll have to run the hoover round before you all visit ;-)
  2:52pm
Martinibomb:

That could be a bar obviously. Is Otis’s show a place? How would that fit into an adventure game?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Great show again, Georgy!
Avatar 2:54pm
Mr Fab:

Brilliant idea MB. i've already talked about the beatnik coffeehouse in Sheena's basement whenever there's a Beat-realated show. And how we turn the parking lot in the back into a movie theater.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you, lovely :-)

Yes Frame Duggy Louder will move from mixcloud to Sheena's Jungle Room
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you, lovely Rich :-) I shall be moving very slowly this evening ;-)
Avatar 2:57pm

Thanks Georgy for another week of musical magic.
