Hi Chresti & Matt
  Tue. 4/16/19 10:09pm JtotheK:

I like the groovy flip of Joe Dodo. Hi Kris, hi everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:10pm Matt from New Orleans:

Kris I heard a interesting cover of cissy strut from a Mexican rock band from the late 60s called Siglo XXI renamed cocinero loco probably to avoid royalties. They released an album that appears to be all renamed covers. Are you familiar with them or seen the album or 45s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:12pm Little Danny:

Hi Kris, hi peeps
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:12pm Matt from New Orleans:

The album is named Tu y el parque which is the title track and who’ll stop the rain by CCR
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:13pm Kris Holmes:

Jason, yeah great double sider
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:13pm Kris Holmes:

Matt that is new to me I think.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:14pm Kris Holmes:

Hi Dan
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:18pm Little Danny:

Cool mod blues groove here. New to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:19pm Matt from New Orleans:

Two of the singles are on discogs but no copies for sale under conjunto siglo XXI on the discos dominante label might be worth keeping an eye out for
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:20pm Franco Twinkie:

Kris! IA all the way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:20pm Little Danny:

OMG Kris you are going there

Classic!
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:23pm Franco Twinkie:

Let us all put on the diamond shaped shades.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:37pm Kris Holmes:

Conjunto Siglo XXI sounds fascinating
  Tue. 4/16/19 10:41pm Dean:

Ah, yes, Honey Cone, making the charts in the years before Trump.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:42pm Kris Holmes:

a classic
  Tue. 4/16/19 10:43pm Dean:

Absolutely. A formative R&B/soul tune in my whitebread suburban youth experience of popular music.
  Tue. 4/16/19 10:46pm Dean:

Shoot, I'm a librarian and *I* don't know The Alphabetical Order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:46pm Matt from New Orleans:

I heard cocinero loco on a mix from diggers dozen on mixcloud and I was listening in the background and I heard cissy strut come on but when I opened the app it said cocinero loco and I was like WTF. I listened for a few more seconds and was like this definitely cissy strut not crazy cook so I started digging online and found a page in Spanish dedicated to Mexican rock of the 60s/70s that I google translated just to make sure I was understanding correctly. I found the album for sale on a random website for a polish record store for the equivalent of less than $3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:47pm Matt from New Orleans:

I didn’t buy it as navigating the page in polish was too much
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:49pm Kris Holmes:

i'm definitely gonna look into it
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:49pm Franco Twinkie:

The Bubble Puppy is the only 45 I own on IA. But then, It takes 3 day to drive to Texas from here. You guys are far, far away.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:51pm Kris Holmes:

probably the biggest national hit on the label
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:52pm Matt from New Orleans:

rockenmexico2.tripod.com...
That’s the Mexican rock website in Spanish but it covers bands from all over Mexico by region.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 10:56pm Little Danny:

Man, "Tighten Up" is eternal, but Archie Bell was so much more, too
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 10:59pm Kris Holmes:

yeah, i picked this one up because I thought it was a typo & they'd spelled Tighten Up wrong on the label but it's actually a whole other song. Who knew?
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:00pm Franco Twinkie:

I will hazard a guess that Donna Jean Godchuax is one of the great oooooh ooooohs behind Percy?
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:05pm Franco Twinkie:

I went to Lovells the day before, and Poo Bah the day after. But on the Saturday the 13th I stayed home.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:06pm Franco Twinkie:

Which Two Zappa records?
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:08pm Dean:

Hi, Tom Geigel! (He's Mr. Lovell's.)
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:08pm Kris Holmes:

Apostrophe & Overnight Sensation
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:09pm Franco Twinkie:

Dean, I got quite a haul at Lovell's.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:11pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, good one's from that period. Saw the 73-74 MOI a lot.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:12pm Kris Holmes:

I still love Apostrophe
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:12pm Dean:

Nice. I haven't been there in decades, though I've strolled by. Used to be a regular hangout. Next time I'm down I might have to drop by. I bet even now Tom will remember me, certainly the crew I hung with.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:15pm Franco Twinkie:

I asked the guy at the counter if he knew you. He's been there since the 00's. After your time, I guess.
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:18pm Dean:

Yeah, mostly. Tom's an older, lanky guy. And he might need to see me to remember me.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:20pm northguineahills:

Just got back, had my volume adjusted to Jesse levels, blew me away... *cue Thomas Dolby*
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:24pm Carmichael:

Heya Kris and soulsters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 11:27pm Little Danny:

Awesome Booker track! He was not coincidentally dogged by a heroin habit
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 11:27pm chresti:

Great stuff here Kris, thanks!
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:27pm Franco Twinkie:

I need this! I think, but I'm not totally sure I saw James Booker when he was in Dr. John's band.(1975)
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:30pm Kris Holmes:

NGH, is my show too loud??
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 11:30pm Matt from New Orleans:

Not at all
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:30pm Carmichael:

If it’s too loud, you’re too old.
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:31pm Carmichael:

But seriously, the Drummer stream is louder than the FMU feed.
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:32pm Kris Holmes:

ok, so long as it doesn't sound distorted
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:33pm Franco Twinkie:

A good pair up would be this and The Human Monkey by The Frantics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 11:33pm chresti:

Why can't I be a monkey woman?
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:33pm Franco Twinkie:

You are!
  Tue. 4/16/19 11:35pm Carmichael:

This would be great bed music for outros and intros.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/16/19 11:37pm chresti:

7" are louder?
Avatar Tue. 4/16/19 11:42pm Kris Holmes:
