Yes. One of about 25 black velvets here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
joe:

We own one black velvet. It is an Elvis and it resides in the downstairs water closest with the other Elvis memorabilia known as the Throne Room
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Elvis in the loo - I love that :-)
Avatar 3:06pm
Otis Fodder:

I am missing a black velvet Elvis, I would love a late 60's Vegas tear filled Elvis.

Yup hangs right over the cammode

i was gonna suggest you hit The Museum of Velvet Art should you ever visit L.A., but sounds like you have your own velvet art museum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I live in a social housing tower block built in 1960 so think East Berlin ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Went to the DDR Museum in Berlin and they showed a short film about East German social housing and I turned to my partner and said "Oh my God ... that's our home!". lol

I want to visit the Vellvet Art Museum one day. So bad. I have a mini-collection that I started with my ex a number of years ago and almost all were found at thrifts for super cheap. Patience and time.

There is defiantly a style of social housing that is very Euro. Here in the states we tried to fake it. I don't know which is worse.

I used to live in 150 year old house with tin ceilings and gaslight lines, and the remains of a dumbwaiter, a stained glass window, and walls covered in Lincrusta!
Avatar 3:15pm
Mr Fab:

Wow Henry, so you could literally 'gaslight' someone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I do love a dumbwaiter. There's at least one bar and a restaurant here in Brighton that both have highly decorated dumbwaiters and I just adore them :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm

Not what I was expecting not complaining at all but a very pleasant surprise.

Along with those whooshy tube things they used to have in department stores. I miss those :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm

The gas lines were mostly shut off and had electric wires running through them, but the one going to the outside light might have worked.

as an oldster, I'm really appreciated these really cheap meals they serve at our local hoidy toidy New Season-ish store called Chuck's Produce. They're like really healthy, portion appropriate high quality cafeteria type meals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Rich in Washington:

The only downside of that store is that they're 7th Day Adventists, so they're closed on Saturday and you can't get anyting made out of pork.
  3:25pm

I love Chucks! 7 dayer - vegetarian place right?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm

Thanks Mr. Fab
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Rich in Washington:

Chucks isn't vegetarian - at least not the two in Vancouver, just no pork, from what I've seen.
Avatar 3:30pm
Otis Fodder:

I had Rush on cassette, a few albums, when I was 12 or 13 in the early 80s. When I was, 12... or 13.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
Rich in Washington:

I don't have a hatred of Rush, per se, but in high school had a friend who was a Rush freak and wouldn't shut up about them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I think Rush has no hipster status because they were around too long and wrote a song about trees having a war.
Avatar 3:33pm
Otis Fodder:

That's it, no hatred of Rush here as a band... I was drilled down by a couple of people years ago who were like, noooo, you just have to hear this... listen, listen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Webhamster Henry:

Otis: is your record shelf still arranged by color?
Avatar 3:34pm
Otis Fodder:

Not by color... now. But I did organize all records, by color, twice. Just for a couple of weeks each time to coincide with parties. Took photos to document. Will post on a future playlist or maybe in the SJR on FB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
joe:

I'm glad to hear there is no hate. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Webhamster Henry:

@Otis I suppose that would be useful to play a teal set or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
Rich in Washington:

This is giving my work rig speakers a workout.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
joe:

God I envy the fact that you don't have to worry about content. I have a horrible time remembering lyrics and every time I'm on air I sweat worrying that I forgot about a naughty bit.
Avatar 3:38pm
Otis Fodder:

@Henry - The mood aspect is nice. Oh, sunny day go to yellow. Dark night, black. But after a few weeks, it's like, what color was that one album again?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
joe:

Raheem has a tinge of LL to him here.
Avatar 3:39pm
Otis Fodder:

@joe - I know, web streams and content. It's refreshing to not have to worry/check on record content and moreover my own swearing coming out at times, especially when laughing in discussion.
Avatar 3:39pm
Mr Fab:

Wow, i had this Raheem album way back when. Completely forgot about it.
Avatar 3:40pm

I forgot about Raheem too, until Matt brought it over. Now I want the LP again. Matt, I'm jealous mannnn. Ha.

never been to South Dakota, but have you ever experienced being in some small town and they're kind of excited to meet you cuz you're like, a real hipster/ DJ from the Big City? Sort of charming, and embarrassing, cuz I'm hardly famous.

"Originally, lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow was dead set on not covering the song, because he wanted the band to write every song on the album. In addition, he was not a big fan of Slade. Instead, the band decided to try to cover the song as badly as they could so the label would refuse to release it."
