Hello from socal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 11:32am chresti:

The door was open, I'll just sit on this tree stump and wait quietly...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 11:35am Tony Coulter:

Hey, Chresti! I'm already here, setting up the chairs. Huge thanks for the repeat pledge!! Much appreciated.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 11:40am Tony Coulter:

Many thanks also to these super-fine folks, who pledged to this show over the last few days:

Rob N.of Savannah, Georgia
Erella G of Toronto, Canada (feel better, Erella)

plus two of FMU's own: Jason Elbogen and Nick Name!

Thanks so much, all -- I'm super glad for the support.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 11:42am chresti:

Any little bit to help the psychedelic fork supply
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 11:57am Tony Coulter:

Speaking of forks, some animal has been stealing the plastic forks we use to dish out cat food, then leave near the sink. We've been finding the missing forks in our backyard. I'm guessing the attraction is that they still have traces of cat food on them.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:00pm βrian:

Boo from the isthmus. Bright blue skies today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:00pm chresti:

Switch to metal so they don't eat the fork. I sometimes use chopsticks
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:01pm Tony Coulter:

βoo to you too, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:01pm Cmurtha:

Howdy everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:02pm steveo:

here for the In-Theme! yay! also, sounds like the cats are not guarding the sink very well.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, Cmurtha and Steveo!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:03pm listener james from westwood:

Good Tuesday, Tony and all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:03pm Yvang:

Hi Tony and everyone, nice to enter the toyshopshoptoy again!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, James and Yvang!

Yes, it's nice to be back in the toyshopshoptoy....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:10pm chris:

hello, Tony, folks and furry flavored-fork fiends
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:11pm Sem:

Hulloooo, Tony and tapeheads (clean, I hope), and all for thiss afternoon of cassette blhiss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:11pm steveo:

I found Ed!

"Ed Video is Guelph's artist-run centre

OUR MISSION/MANDATE: As a charitable artist-run centre, our mission is to foster the creation, exhibition and appreciation of media arts."

www.edvideo.org...

Guelph is a town in Ontario.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:12pm Tony Coulter:

Wow! Glad to see it's still in business. The name makes it sound like a video rental place. An "artist-run centre" certainly makes more sense.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:13pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy there, Chris and Sem!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:13pm steveo:

yes, i imagined rental place as well :)
Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:16pm TomDash:

Hey there, Tony - some lovely minimal bliss here...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:17pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Tom! Just wait: it keeps getting better
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:17pm Sem:

A university town is Guelph, often in the news here in the great white north for useful research benefitting farmers, farming, and such.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:19pm Tony Coulter:

The track on now is also "live at Ed Video."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:21pm JtotheK:

Ahoy there Tony! Hi everyone. Tony, I really like the Lawrence Welk LP you have covered up today!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:22pm Tony Coulter:

Ah, yes, almost forgot: Can anyone ID the mystery LP (well, actually 12") underneath today's cassettes? If you know the record it should be easy to spot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:22pm fleep:

Lovely stuff, deserves to see more daylight
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:22pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, fleep and JtotheK!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 12:23pm listener james from westwood:

Agreed, fleep.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:30pm Tony Coulter:

I got this tape from someone associated with CLEM (Contact List of Electronic Musicians): rateyourmusic.com...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:31pm Tony Coulter:

The tape was in CLEM's "archives."
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:36pm Tony Coulter:

No guesses re today's mystery record? It's British, and from the '80s. The group is an offshoot of a better-known band that generated a lot of Heat.
  Tue. 3/19/19 12:37pm Matt:

Lifelines?
  Tue. 3/19/19 12:37pm Matt:

tones i mean
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:38pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Matt! Nope -- but you're getting close!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:44pm Tony Coulter:

No more guesses? I'll give it three more minutes. Remember: guess it correctly, and you win an all-expenses-paid trip to Flumdiddle!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:45pm Sem:

Enjoying this very much, TC.
  Tue. 3/19/19 12:46pm Ike:

The Belching Trees of Weaselville?
  Tue. 3/19/19 12:47pm Ike:

I totally made that up. But watch, a band with that name will now pop into existence.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:49pm Tony Coulter:

Sorry, Ike, you're so close, but that's not it. Today's mystery record is by This Heat offshoot The Camberwell Now. It's called "Greenfingers," and here it is: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:50pm Tony Coulter:

(Heya, Ike!)
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:50pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sem: Glad to hear it!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 12:58pm Tony Coulter:

As you can hear, this tape gets into Frith-esque free improv territory at times -- which I forgot to mention in my "intro."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:10pm chresti:

I just got another jury summons in the mail
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:11pm Tony Coulter:

Are you going to try to wiggle-woggle out of it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:12pm chresti:

Yeah-my excuse is that I just served last month
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

Sounds like a good excuse to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:14pm chresti:

We were told we don't have to serve for 5 years
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:19pm Tony Coulter:

The track on now is on my marathon premium
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:22pm steveo:

i recently got a jury summons from the us district court, and they only allow excusal for service in other courts within 2 years (which fortunately I had because it butted up against my vacation plans)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:25pm Webhamster Henry:

This tape is tasty, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:27pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Henry! I agree. Especially with mayonnaise
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:28pm chris:

really enjoying this tape, too. also, i have jury duty in two weeks (rescheduled, luckily, since i was foul ill earlier this month). what's with all the jury duty? don't they know only free-thinkers and outliers listen to wfmu?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:28pm Webhamster Henry:

I've got lacto-fermented carrot-slaw here, it goes well with it!
Listeners! What do YOU eat to Tape Hiss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:29pm Webhamster Henry:

I'm well on the record for being pro Jury Service (rebranded from 'Duty').
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:32pm steveo:

i fought the slaw, and the slaw won
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:33pm chris:

i actually don't mind serving. i'm lucky enough to still get paid. but since i work from home, actually getting up early, showered, dressed and leaving the puppers all alone is kind of a bummer. we should all be so lucky to have such minimal discomforts, really.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:35pm Nick S.:

The Guelph Audio Vision Ensemble WAS AMAZING! hEY, tONY!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:36pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Nick! Yeah, I'm very glad to have found it!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:40pm Tony Coulter:

As you just heard, the tracks are announced on this tape -- which makes things nice and easy for me, accuplaylist-wise.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:43pm Tony Coulter:

This "Antologia Polipoetica" tape comes with a large, fat booklet -- practically a book -- hence the deluxe oversize case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:44pm Cmurtha:

Man, everyone who is not hearing this is missing out, especially since it won't be in the archive. This has been an interesting ride thus far.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:47pm Tony Coulter:

Yeah, wish I could archive these shows. Glad you're enjoying the one-time-only ride....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:47pm Webhamster Henry:

I wish I could tape the shows!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:51pm Tony Coulter:

I do secretly archive these shows, for my own porpoises. Maybe I can transfer them all to cassette.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

By "archive," I mean I keep recordings of the shows for possible future "fill-in" use. They're not archived anywhere online.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:53pm Yvang:

Maybe in the future, all the Internet will be transferred to cassette...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 1:55pm Tony Coulter:

Ha!

Somewhere I have a cassette with audible computer code on it. It's beyond my comprehension. I'm sure Webhamster Henry would understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:57pm Yvang:

Magnetic tape seems to keep being a reliable format, I've heard the CERN in Switzerland is archiving its data on reel-to-reel like in the IBM old days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 1:59pm Cmurtha:

I wonder if you put all the internet on cassets does it summon the dreaded "Frankenstein Radio-Computer God"?
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:02pm Tony Coulter:

That and pictures of cute cats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:04pm chresti:

your porpoises have good taste
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:05pm steveo:

we call farfalle bowties but i think it means butterflies
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:06pm Cmurtha:

Why do I feel like an audio representation of old cat memes would scare me more than delight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:06pm Yvang:

Farfalle is also pasta
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:06pm Sem:

I need a party piece like this, bring a whole new frisson to my social life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:11pm steveo:

my bowtie is also a camera
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:14pm northguineahills:

Needs more slide whistles....
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:14pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:19pm steveo:

i like this weird-ass tape
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:21pm Tony Coulter:

Yes, it's quite amazing. I actually have a bunch of sound poetry tapes that for some reason I haven't been playing on Tapes Hiss. I'll get to 'em sooner or later!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:21pm Cmurtha:

I wish I knew what emotion this poem was supposed to illicit. I can't tell and now that there's two of them I really can't follow. I should bug the Sardenian guy here and ask them what is being said .
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:22pm northguineahills:

I also love this weird ass-tape (I've read too many xkcd comics).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:26pm Webhamster Henry:

This is a Fish Choir.
Tue. 3/19/19 2:27pm Alessandro from Italy:

Thanks for this italian_audio_experimental_project. That reminds me: "AUDIOBOX spazio multicodice di Pinotto Fava", a reckless half-hour radio program on the first national public channel here in Italy. In the 80s on medium waves every day at 7:25pm. Brave Italians in the no-web era !!
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:28pm northguineahills:

I think I've heard a different version of this Doremi done before (Japanese artist in the late 90s/early 00s?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:28pm steveo:

ngh, that's a good ass-idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:28pm Webhamster Henry:

I like this a lot!

@TonyC I have patch loading tapes for my Prophet600 that probably work still. Also, the ultimate in K7 perversion: a PXL-2000.
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:30pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, Alessandro! That radio program sounds very interesting!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:30pm Webhamster Henry:

The Widow Jane Mine is hosting a Poet-Rock show July 6th. This in addition to the 29th annual subterranean Poetry Festival, which often also has some music. Details as they solidify!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:30pm Yvang:

Reminds me Laurie Anderson a little...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/19/19 2:31pm Cmurtha:

The Sardinian was about to eat dinner so I didn't want to bother him, though he did cast a few bewildered glances over as he was going around though
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:31pm Tony Coulter:

Vittore Baroni (on now) was/is the head honcho of the great TRAX label: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:37pm northguineahills:

Ok, it was an artist working w/ Berhard Gal...., now to remember the artist...
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:40pm northguineahills:

Ayako something, lived in NYC at the time (memory is slow).
Avatar Tue. 3/19/19 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

Not sure!
