That JCS riff has a Middle Eastern feel to begin with, the truth might be that someone on the original JCS writing/arranging team might have copped it from something that originated there. In which case Gagoosh and others are just bringing it home...!

That is possible P-90, I do suspect JCS is the origin, 70s turkish Pop had a vogue of taking Arabasques/Western pop and Turkifying it. Esemeray for instance has a great song that is sung over "Jezahel" that rocks. As a total aside this borrowing is a plot point in the movie Unatarsam fısılda which has a pretty damn good sound track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm
listener james from westwood:

This was when my circle was still heavily playing Def Leppard's "Hysteria" and "Appetite for Destruction" during roleplaying nights during breaks from college. And the "Untouchables" and "Lost Boys" soundtracks from the previous summer too.

@tim and @tneld I read something a while back that everything Malcolm McClaren created was really just radio-oriented pop, from BowWowWow to the Sex Pistols. Even referred to the Pistols as punk's first Boy Band. Funny how history shines a different light on what we were seeing in the moment
