Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:05pm Don-O:

Vivian: Yup, I'm on the evil FB. Just under my non-nickname, Don Fields
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:06pm Jan Turkenburg:

Have fun everyone! This ole man'll be slipping out again somewhere along this show. Greetings from the future!
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:06pm Don-O:

Quite the buffet there, Otis. I'll have to hear the early parts later.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:10pm Otis Fodder:

Listening while I lay down and relax. Keep on with the magic. We have just under 2 hours left on the Friday showboat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:11pm Webhamster Henry:

That ingredient IS aspirin!
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:13pm Don-O:

Welcome to the world of radio airchecks. this is a shout out to Mark Strickert who really got me into this world, more than just the Dr. Demento, Sweet Dick Whittington shtick I had been collecting up until the early 90's
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:14pm Archivist Vivian:

May listen on phone soon which will mean I'm not on chat.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:14pm Archivist Vivian:

Did you ever hear the depressing last few hours of KMET?
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:15pm Don-O:

Kinda. The switch to that soft/easy jazz crap was too much to bear.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:19pm Kat in Chicago:

I've lived in Chicago for most of my (purported) adult life, but I grew up elsewhere so I didn't hear this station the first time around. This is a trip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:20pm Rich in Washington:

oh yeah!
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:20pm Kat in Chicago:

I wonder what I would have thought of the "Den Pals", or whatever they are, as a ten-year-old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:23pm Rich in Washington:

I really wanna see the Fred Lane documentary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:25pm Webhamster Henry:

I like air checks! Good old Laura Cantrell played them on her show!
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:25pm Don-O:

The 'Den Pals' idea is a part of this highly personalized format that boggles my mind.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:26pm Archivist Vivian:

I wish I wasn't born in 1995. I missed so much great radio ambiance. I remember stuff from the last half of the 90s though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:27pm Webhamster Henry:

I recently bought a 3 record set of a top-30 radio show scheduled to be broadcast in 1986 that was not returned as it was supposed to be.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:30pm Don-O:

I got a aircheck of Jean Shepherd visiting the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. I'm saving that for a future Worlds Fair show!
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:30pm Kat in Chicago:

LOL at Mexican food being a novelty in Chicago! I'm within walking distance of at least six taquerias.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:31pm Webhamster Henry:

You can do a show sometime of 100% PAMS station ids.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:32pm Kat in Chicago:

"The station with the girls..." oof. This is making me cringe, but it's also absolutely fascinating
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:34pm Don-O:

BarNone released a Equivel live CD that was recorded at that Mexican restaurant.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:35pm Kat in Chicago:

Ha, that's amazing
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:38pm Don-O:

OT: I just checked the NWS and it looks like my neck o' the woods will have three days of rain! Yea, not as dangerous as the heavy snow stuff, but we got enough burned out areas near us that we're replacing the snow with mud. Good luck out there, everybody!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:39pm Rich in Washington:

I loved Albert's take on break-in records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:40pm Webhamster Henry:

I vaguely remember this bit! His brother Bob Einstein died last week or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:41pm Rich in Washington:

We're actually finally getting some snow after the weekend. It's been unseasonably sunny and warm all winter so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/1/19 6:41pm Rich in Washington:

That is true.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:48pm Kat in Chicago:

48 East Oak, former home of Musicraft, is now a designer clothing store (Jil Sander) FYI. Posh.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:48pm Mr Fab:

Hey boys and girls, just popping in for a bit.
these air check shows are such a time machine, love 'em
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:48pm Martinibomb:

this is a great mix today Don
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:51pm Don-O:

The other WSDM aircheck I have is from 1974 and during it's Jazz/Rock years. It still has the 'Den Pals', but not much else from the previous format.
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:52pm Don-O:

Yup, she is milking each note out like a tube of toothpaste
Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:54pm Don-O:

Avatar Fri. 2/1/19 6:58pm Don-O:
