Noah's Ark "philosophy" is quite revolutionary
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:14pm cometothesunshine:

Not sure that they were able to save the world - perhaps if their single had been played more?
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:15pm dustyspriglet:

They tried, and that is a good thing!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:16pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, the previous owners of this 45 certainly played it a lot. Or, left it out on table somewhere.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:19pm cometothesunshine:

Sounds like Tony has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. I wonder if Someday did come?
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:19pm dustyspriglet:

ha! Groovy guitarist with Mr. Tony!
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:20pm dustyspriglet:

(Tony from Australia)
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:20pm cometothesunshine:

Poor Tony Jackson left the Searchers (or was pushed) made great 45s but led a hard life in the years that followed.
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:21pm dustyspriglet:

So, Someday never arrived then? Sad! :-(
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:22pm mce1965:

Grapefruit's putting out another "complete Pye" Searchers set
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:22pm cometothesunshine:

If any of my listeners are worried that we are rocking too hard, I plan to take things way down for the second half.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:23pm cometothesunshine:

Part 2 sounds like I dipped it in a cap full of Snuggle.
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:25pm uptownjen:

No! I’m loving the upbeat. I sure needed it.
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:26pm dustyspriglet:

Same here, uptownjen! I'm diggin' it - dancing in my seat!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:31pm cometothesunshine:

Had a brief power outage here, but back with you now
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:33pm cometothesunshine:

I really love this Spring Fever 45; wish they'd made more. This is their lone release.
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:33pm uptownjen:

Loving this Spring Fever track!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:35pm cometothesunshine:

Buddy Rich's daughter made this 45. And the drumming is quite good.
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:35pm dustyspriglet:

Great set, Andrew! All these selections are fab.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:35pm cometothesunshine:

Thanks, dusty!

Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:47pm cometothesunshine:

Hope I haven't scared you all away
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:47pm cometothesunshine:

yup, it was the follow-up Karen S
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:52pm cometothesunshine:

Really like this John Fred 45, ambitious production.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:54pm mce1965:

Too bad JID prejudiced me so badly against JFred... should've known there was more to them
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:54pm KarenS:

Yeah that was great!
  Mon. 1/21/19 6:55pm dustyspriglet:

I knew Riopelle was friends with you and many of our mutual friends but I am sorry I had never heard his music until today. It was a delightful tune! :-( Please tell me which tune was his on the playlist?
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:56pm cometothesunshine:

The Parade - She's Got The Magic
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:56pm cometothesunshine:

Yes, John Fred made a few really good, non-Judy In Disguise sides.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 6:59pm cometothesunshine:

Eric Burdon - Good Times aplenty
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:00pm mce1965:

Too true
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:00pm Olivia Greene:

Glad to be able to hear the John Fred release here. Thanks!

I'm glad too, Olivia!

Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

Another Day, Another Heartache
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:04pm izzy:

Hey, all!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:04pm cometothesunshine:

He and his partner, Steve Barri, wrote this for the Mama's And Papa's but they turned it down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:05pm Dominick:

so good!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:06pm Olivia Greene:

It often seems Phil's deft touch is everywhere.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:07pm cometothesunshine:

These records are really superb productions
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:08pm cometothesunshine:

welcome, izzy (& congratulations!)
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:08pm izzy:

Who's on the funky bass?
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:09pm izzy:

Thanks, Andrew. We were trying to stretch it out and see Nez at the Troub, but couldn't make it happen.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:09pm cometothesunshine:

Izzy - that is likely Joe Osborn on bass
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:11pm cometothesunshine:

This is actually a live track recorded in London for the BBC
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:11pm izzy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:13pm Dominick:

Saw them in'69. 4 piece band - drums, bass, guitar, rhodes
Got schooled that night.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:14pm cometothesunshine:

I bet they were great
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:16pm Dominick:

A level I had not seen before. Memorable.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:17pm cometothesunshine:

A strong vocal group is always a mind-blower - they work at a different level.
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:17pm uptownjen:

The BBC live material you feature on CTTS always knocks me out. Thanks for including those cuts in your spotlights!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:18pm mce1965:

Such a shame they became Marilyn McCoo and backing group
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:18pm KarenS:

I never saw the 5D but I did see Billy & Marilyn with Jimmy Webb in a cabaret club in the late 90s.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:19pm cometothesunshine:

Jen, it is my pleasure - some of the best stuff in my entire collection.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:20pm cometothesunshine:

I saw Billy And Marilyn a few years ago and it was a lot of laughs, but light on 5D songs.
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:21pm dustyspriglet:

I LOVE Jimmy Webb!!
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:22pm Hip Toad:

Dusty, you're not alone... ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:23pm Dominick:

They've got quite a superlative book of songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:23pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Andrew! Just yesterday I was listening to a version of Another Day, Another Heartache on YouTube where someone had remixed the song to get rid of the modulation at the end! I have to admit to liking it.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:24pm cometothesunshine:

Hmm...I will have to check that out, Gaylord!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:24pm cometothesunshine:

A whole lot of great Hal Blaine pick-ups and fills on these tracks.
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:25pm Hip Toad:

"The Magic Garden" was their "Sgt. Pepper's...", of course. More Jimmy Webb Genius!
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:25pm izzy:

Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:26pm KarenS:

A Magic Garden of TALENT on this album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:26pm Gaylord Fields:

Here 'tis: www.youtube.com...

The remixer also slowed it down a half step, which sounds odd to my ears but doesn't wreck the song at all.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:28pm cometothesunshine:

This song, written by Jefferey Comanor, is one of my favorites - really an amazing melody and lyric.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:33pm cometothesunshine:

MCE - your LP's cleaned up nicely!
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:34pm Hip Toad:

I saw Jeffrey Comanor live *twice*. Once as the opening act for Blue Oyster Cult at the Long Beach Arena (as a last minute replacement fort Marc Bolan & T. Rex, who had cancelled due to laryngitis) and again at The Golden Bear, which was a much more appropriate venue for his vibe, obviously.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:35pm mce1965:

They sure did! That software is truly amazing.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:35pm cometothesunshine:

  Mon. 1/21/19 7:38pm izzy:

Should be a packed homestretch to the show!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:38pm mce1965:

Hard to imagine Comanor as the BOC warmup... a magical '70s moment for sure
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:40pm cometothesunshine:

Eclectic bills may have made people never want to see opening acts after the 1970's
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:42pm dustyspriglet:

Extra fast Sweet Blindness... definitely needed this upbeat hour o'music today!! Yes!
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:43pm uptownjen:

Yeah. This is soul-warming. Thanks, Andrew.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:43pm cometothesunshine:

I'm so glad!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:43pm cometothesunshine:

It really is my great honor to share this music with you all.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:44pm KarenS:

Where is the live Sweet Blindness from?
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:45pm cometothesunshine:

KarenS - that was recorded for the BBC's Saturday Club show in 1968 - it is unissued.
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:45pm uptownjen:

Man, the bass is bumpin’ on this one!
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:45pm KarenS:

Wow! That is gold.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:47pm cometothesunshine:

Playing bass with a pick really changes things.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:49pm mce1965:

Couldn't have done a better job selecting the tunes in this spotlight... lovely pacing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/21/19 7:49pm Dominick:

Mr. Osborne made it a different instrument
  Mon. 1/21/19 7:49pm 5D fan:

Playing bass with a pick defines so many great recordings
Avatar Mon. 1/21/19 7:54pm KarenS:
