Evening, Jherweg. Thanks for keeping Nick’s seat warm tonight, looking forward to this.
Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 12:07am Jherweg:

Hey thanks , glad to be here ... 12 hours of Blurred and Obscured in one week!!
Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 12:28am Jherweg:

Zzzzzzzzzzz everyone is asleep!
  Fri. 12/28/18 12:34am ike:

I’m awake... for a few more minutes. Still haven’t yet caught up on your archives from Tuesday morning and night! They’re next on the list....
  Fri. 12/28/18 12:37am Dean:

Not asleep. Okay, I'll chime in. The Boyd Rice reminded me of a once-in-a-lifetime show at Kelbo's, a now defunct Polynesian restaurant in LA on Pico Blvd., early '80s, where NON performed, unbeknownst to the proprietors of the venue. The cover was a "surf party" featuring music by Annette Funicello, Beach Boys, etc., and a buffet of barbecued ribs and so forth. At some point, the hosts closed the door to the dining room, wedging a chair under the knob. NON proceeded to perform the most ear-shredding hash I'd heard in some time, then or since. When asked to deliver an encore, Rice could only mutter that he'd broken his gear.
  Fri. 12/28/18 12:38am Scuttle:

Always love your show

Among my favorites from 2018: matthew swiezynski's the one who modifies Time and Light, among the last of his label's releases before folding up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/28/18 12:46am Scraps:

I’m listening. I’m mostly lying down when listening to WFMU, and not participating to comments, because I’m usually in pain (sorry, but it’s true). Anyway, I’m always up for more Blurred & Obscured. p.s.: Boyd Rice sux.
  Fri. 12/28/18 12:48am JakeGould:

Hey Jonathan! Great work on the fill-ins.
  Fri. 12/28/18 12:49am JakeGould:

Anyone here see the Con Ed explosion light.
Fri. 12/28/18 12:55am Pete in MKE:

Listening via the WFMU app in Milwaukee. Bought my daughter the stations tee as a gift for Xmas. She recently moved to Brooklyn & is a new fan. Free form forever!! Really.
Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 12:58am Jherweg:

The App is great Pete , it’s how I mostly listen to WFMU myself..
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:02am David Colangelo:

Sounds like Jason Stein...you have the best music...
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:04am Dean:

That had to be bass clarinet.

I love this track so much!!
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:12am rw:

Jherweg! It's like you have your own radio station. They should let you take over more often!

Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 1:13am Jherweg:

I don’t need to take over , just a weekly slot would be fine .
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:14am rw:

I do miss your weekly. Is there someone we could pester?
Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 1:15am tuner fish:

great set!
Avatar Fri. 12/28/18 1:16am Jherweg:

I don’t think pestering works, in fact I think it’s counterproductive.

I did a 1-4 AM radio show for a few years, and absolutely loved the stillness of the station during those hours!
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:34am Dean:

Great early hours radio programming: Richard Meltzer's Hepcats from Hell on LA's KPFK. His delivery oozed the absence of street life.

Boycott Times Square
Go to Peekskill NY or White Plains NY
They both have a ball drop

Good morning from Yerevan, folks.
Fri. 12/28/18 1:48am Adam West Coaster:

@666, I had looked right past that bit, when reminiscing about all of the band’s multitudinous references to one “fallen man.” Hahaha!
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:51am BEAVO:

JH, you must getvback on the schedule next year! Listened to your very first show on the archive last night, lotta fun! Keep it coming.

  Fri. 12/28/18 1:57am BEAVO:

But I digress it’s about the music keep it coming!
  Fri. 12/28/18 1:59am Dean:

1) That's an approval rating, not a "he's great" rating. 2) Much of what is abhorrent about the guy is his high-school-ish jerk-off personality. 3) Withdrawal from Afghanistan? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Fri. 12/28/18 2:02am Adam West Coaster:

@Jherweg, these shows have been so wonderful!!

@ scraps --- oh no -- i hope somehow you feel better and are NOT in pain so much . . . and i totally agree re: Boyd Rice -- sure, i still have the NON stuff from waaaay back when i was in college (late 1970s to early 1980s) . . . and i totally LOVED all that "noise" . . . then some years later i learned more about Boyd Rice and his "philosophy" and was/still am thoroughly disgusted
  Fri. 12/28/18 2:34am katharsis:

Thanks again

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/28/18 2:43am Zetti:

Thanks for all the fill-ins Jonathan.
  Fri. 12/28/18 2:47am rw:

Jherweg, I had nowhere near 4000 CDs but put mine in three piles. One pile to give away, one pile to keep, and one pile to keep just the discs and the paper inserts which I put in sleeves. Saved a lot of space.
  Fri. 12/28/18 2:52am rw:

JH, thanks again for keeping the radio humming for the past week! Happy 2019 everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/28/18 2:52am fred:

  Fri. 2/8/19 11:37pm Capt. GreenCloud:

Hi Jonathan - longtime listener, first time commenter here - just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to so much great stuff over the last few years.

I always listen in the daytime from the archives while at work and I've really enjoyed your stories, humour, montages, and selections. Really hoping you make a regular return one day but it's been great binging on the shows from your xmas marathon.

All the best to you & cheers from Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island!
