  Sat. 12/22/18 12:32pm DG:

Geez, Dr. Martin Abend....haven't heard that name in decades. For those of us in the NYC who watched Channel 5 news as kids/teens, he was the always-ticked--off conservative commentator, the forefather to every aggrieved white guy on Faux News. I remember some people on the station (Stewart Klein, the movie critic, at least) needling him at times.

yeah, hugh, i mentioned this when you were on pseu's show's chat - didn't think u saw it.
  Sat. 12/22/18 12:46pm DG:

Love Paul M., but yes, his Xmas song is awful, repetitive & sounds like a commercial. John's is great, George did a fun New Year's song, and Ringo made an entire Xmas album almost 20 years ago which is actually pretty good (a mix of holiday classics & originals). Wish I could find it.
  Sat. 12/22/18 12:47pm Dr. Martin Abend and Professor Sidney Offit:

@Richard S:
We agree
  Sat. 12/22/18 12:48pm clarke:

the book is great - i had read most of the interviews when they were on myspace. the thing is partridge may not even be my favorite songwriter in his own band!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 12/22/18 12:51pm Hughie Considine:

I hear that. I think the Partridge vs. Moulding thing is roughly akin to Bob Mould/Grant Hart, where the writer with fewer songs per LP is clearly the poppier writer and the one with less of an ego.

Yes, like how the sudden focus on Colin after Life Begins at the Hop drove Andy into highly competitive mode, which inspired some amazing music.

I'd thought Hanson was teenybopper crap but this is great! (and the Tinted Windows is good too--wish they'd do another one. It's not like Bun E. Carlos is busy).
