Hey there coelacanth, Parq, and johnk77! Peter Tosh always gets a seat at my radio table!

Praise Jah, also in the Peter Tosh fan club.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 12:57pm coelacanth∅:

and i wont be weary of Pete Shelley songs for quite a long time.
- rest in peace Nancy Wilson as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 12:57pm Rich in Washington:

I feel bad that I hadn't paid as much attention to Shelley's solo work back in the day - but it's fantastic, isn't it?
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 12:59pm coelacanth∅:

i hadn't so much either. he's more "poppy" than what i usually put on at home, and barely ever heard it on the radio.
- but there's no denying it. he was a Great.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:07pm Parq:

Nancy Wilson was in my favorite episode of Hawaii 5-0, playing a jazz singer who, in spite of her junk habit, was so good that even McGarrett got all fanboy around her.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:08pm Parq:

As for Pete Shelly, anyone who was around on the scene of the old Dirt Club in Bloomfield NJ in the early 80s remembers what "Homo Sapien" meant to that crowd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 1:23pm Ike:

There was a rock club in Bloomfield at one point?!? Wow.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:35pm coelacanth∅:

Parq i remember that! and we must have seen each-other there -i was there every weekend for at least a year or 2 then.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:37pm coelacanth∅:

"homo sapien"; "dancing with myself"; that crappy new order song (i know -blasphemy) ...those all got played 2 or even 3 times on a busy night.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:39pm Mary Wing:

I'ma play that crappy New Order song today, yep. Try and stop me, heh.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:42pm coelacanth∅:

haha you know the one right?!

(for the record i'm not dissing new order entirely)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 1:44pm steveo:

hello. i'm here for some space in my face :)
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:46pm Mary Wing:

"Age Of Consent," yes?
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:47pm Mary Wing:

I got plenty of space left, steveo!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:47pm Mary Wing:

Oh shoot, I need to choose today's 3oak!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:47pm coelacanth∅:

i had to find out. "blue monday". total electronic disco. not a spec of soul.
... i love "temptation" and ...there's another one...
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:48pm coelacanth∅:

("speck"; "spec" is short for specification)
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:52pm Parq:

Coales, I'm sure we did. I was the nerdy looking one. I know, that doesn't narrow it down much, does it? Yeah, "Lawn Chairs", "What I Like About You", that crappy Adam Ant record -- the deejay at Dirt didn't have a whole lot of range, huh?
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:52pm Parq:

Mary, I assumed the crappy New Order song *was* today's 3OAK.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:56pm Mary Wing:

OKAY, I can do that!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:57pm Parq:

Dig it.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:58pm Mary Wing:

Lots of covers, who knew?
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

well he's not the only dj that when asked for a ramones song would play "i wanna be sedated". i learned to never ask for a ramones song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:00pm Rich in Washington:

The only time I really connected to music as a kid was when I saw the True Faith video at age 13, 3 years later it must have subconsciously burrowed in my brain, as I became a Joy Division/New Order head (In the mid 90s).
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:11pm Mary Wing:

Hey there, Henry and NGH! Glad you've been hanging around!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:12pm Mary Wing:

I certainly would bust a move when this came on in the clubs, I don't deny it.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:13pm Sem:

Oh, nice. New Order is up.

Good time for this, Mary. Just feels right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:15pm Sem:

Getting hot and sweaty in here. Maybe wearing too much leather.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:15pm coelacanth∅:

i had to be pretty drunk to dance to this back then. now i wouldn't feel it no matter how drunk i was. (referring to the original only. i think this cover is better, maybe)

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:22pm steveo:

Wow so I was trying to figure out what song this reminded me,
of and well, I managed to remember Tony Coulter played a self-titled song this summer by a band Called Gerry and the Holograms.

And then... I found this page that says 'New Order stole "Blue Monday" from Gerry + Holograms' hubski.com...

So how about that!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:25pm Mary Wing:

NO freaking way!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:25pm Parq:

Steveo, I gotta look when I get home, but I bet that's on Tony's old "Wobbly Wave" 'thon premium.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:26pm steveo:

here's the playlist i heard it on wfmu.org...
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:26pm Parq:

Mary, that just might be in the station's MP3 database.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:27pm steveo:

there's also a youtube linked at the hubski article, above
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If there's a "Blue Monday" from the Hoof 'n' Mouth collections, I wonder who would have performed it.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:33pm Mary Wing:

I don't think Hoof & Mouth has covered it, sadly.
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:35pm northguineahills:

I miss old wave dance nights. Thankfully, there are other good dance nights around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:38pm steveo:

@Parq, according to blog.wfmu.org... Gerry and the Holograms are on the compilation of the month from Rhubarb Cake with Douglas from 2001.

Oddly, Blue Monday is also mentioned at that URL, but not in relation to Gerry and the Holograms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 12/19/18 2:40pm steveo:

(or is it 1980? the blog post confuses me)
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:42pm Parq:

Ooh, I like this one with the banjo!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:44pm Parq:

Mary, this is a freaking great 3oaK!

Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:45pm northguineahills:

What Parq said!
Avatar Wed. 12/19/18 2:46pm northguineahills:
